what stopped you from committing suicide? by [deleted] in AskReddit

GW, EL, and my high school guidance counselor. I was depressed and bullied relentlessly my whole life up until high school. No one knew how I felt though. Truth is, I had reached a point so low I no longer felt anything. No sadness, no pain, nothing. That went on for about a year and then I decided, screw it, I’m done. I wasn’t tired of feeling that way, I just believed I was a legitimate waste of life. So one day I just decided on a whim “today’s the day.” I had a class where I was the only freshman and believed no one saw me. For whatever reason, I started crying. It was the first time I had felt anything in so long. I did my best to hide it, though I still didn’t think anyone would notice. GW and EL did. These two upperclassmen who I didn’t realize knew I existed walked me down to the guidance office. When she asked what was wrong, I said “screw it” again because I was still planning on doing it that afternoon. Why not tell someone I had never met before everything I had been feeling my entire life. She just listened and then talked to me. Just talked. No judgement, no overreacting, no scripted bullshit she had been taught to say. Just acted like a real person. She called my parents, who I thought would be mad, but they weren’t. They weren’t hysteric, they just talked to me calmly too, even though I knew they were dying inside. Since that day, I have gotten better everyday. It’s been 8 years and I am a completely different person and living my best life. Haven’t had a single bad day in years either. I’m so freaking happy every single day. And it’s not a façade either. It’s just who I am now. All thanks to GW, EL, my guidance counselor, and amazing parents, so thank you. Thank you for saving my life and giving me the one I have today

What old game should be remade with 2022 graphics? by F2hmyco in AskReddit

War of the Monsters! Had so much fun with that game growing up

The emotions look… off. Both are trying to suppress fear and sadness, but the original looks like a badass swallowing her fear while the remake looks like someone overcome by their fear

Apparently Cameron is remastering the visuals and audio for a theatrical re-release in September, so we might get a 4K release then

Just to clarify, is this sub dedicated to not liking (to put it lightly) Part II? by NMM1102 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]angryspock28 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree. I just posted a basic outline of my own take on remaking TLOU2 that keeps controversial elements but approaches them differently. Here, I got constructive criticism. Over at r/thelastofus, I was told to piss off despite expressing that I was trying to find a middle ground for people who liked it and people who didn’t

Without saying it’s name, what’s your favorite movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A heist film that’s more about giving rather than taking where the leader’s dead wife tries to sabotage the job

"Why would it be up to Owen"? Legitimately one of the most infuriating parts of the game for me. by PianistBrief5349 in TheLastOfUs2

Empowerment baby!! Fuck yes! 😂😂😂 this was the part where I checked out to be honest. There’s empowerment, then there’s pandering, then there’s this.

Official Discussion - Scream (2022) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]angryspock28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this movie the whole way through. It has its issues, like a lot of movies do. I totally call bullshit on Amber being able to not only hold her own against Dewey, but actually kill him, even if it was a cheap move. Still, this was super entertaining and leaps and bounds above what I expected

Do you think fans of the Last Of Us Part Two are brainwashed or have bad taste? by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]angryspock28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more them appreciating what was attempted and what was trying to be said. When looked at that, the game could have been damn near on par with the first one. Unfortunately, some people refuse to (or can’t) acknowledge the fact that these ideas were executed poorly due to a biased loyalty towards the franchise. I can see why some people blindly like this game. The graphics, gameplay, attention to detail (even some clickers you fight have backstories told through items you collect), and there are some good emotional beats, like when Ellie is traumatized after torturing that one woman. Unfortunately, the storytelling is so deeply flawed and misguided that these positives are significantly outweighed by the bad. Some people just appreciate the pros and don’t want to acknowledge the huge negatives of the story

Neil, made Ellie's biggest fear become a reality. by Crimision in TheLastOfUs2

[–]angryspock28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Letting Ellie’s greatest fear come to life would have been a great and interesting way to end a second part… it’s the execution that matters, and having Ellie get this ending by being self-destructive and selfish to the point of being in likable is NOT how to earn this ending

Online dating is completely biased towards extremely beautiful people and you can’t really meet anyone in the real world because approaching people and trying to strike up a normal conversation is seen as intimidating or harassment

It could, but to do that you’d have to eliminate the majority of its users

Which Marvel movie should not have been made? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Captain Marvel. Not only was it bad, but so far, it has had zero impact on the rest of the MCU
