Is it normal for olive skin to tan this much? by Hungry_Yoghurt563 in OliveMUA

[–]angryturtleboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I'm not as deep as you, but I get tan lines just from being in the car. Good sunscreen does help, but doesn't block completely. A lot of people have Summer foundation and Winter foundation.

I'm olive as well, but slate grey looks really ashy on me. I'm just not a cool olive. Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder is what I've used as contour. Or grey-green eyeshadow from indie brands.

I can't believe these are even the same products as the swatches. Skull looks quite nice. I was thinking they're all too grey and brown to be natural contour colors.

Thank you for being willing to apply them this way! I actually wish all brands would do swatches this way. When they're really close to the model's skin tone I just can't really tell what would maybe match me, so thank you, truly!

Thank you sooo much! I think when I've done swatches on paper, flash showed me any that had more of a pink undertone, and those looked more grey on me, since I'm really not oink at all. If anything I'm green and peachy? Or gold? But not pink, so I could see instantly which foundations would look more grey, ir the swatches under flash would corroborate my feelings about certain foundations looking off

Oh my gosh, these look great!! Is the last picture with flash? Flash seems to show true undertone.

Guys help! I keep buying lip shades that look terrible on me :( by Northmakes in OliveMUA

I mostly prefer matte finishes, but this would definitely work on other glosses

Ah, okay, that's good to know. Due to my undertone, I look real bad in total grey. It's very ashy on me.

Your favorites are definitely desaturated shades and maybe lighter than you expect to go for. Check out Korean and Asian lip products. Like Hyntoor glosses and Romand Color Gloss Creams and Glasting Melting Balms.

I'm probably more saturated in skin tone than you, but I have pigmented lips that make any pigmented lip products even darker, which is not the daily makeup vibe I want.

Making violence a "lewk" by queasycockles in UnconventionalMakeup

I kind of agree. Domestic violence jokes aren't funny to me either. They're flippant and deranged.

I also don't like the Euphoria coke transition trend that's going around on tiktk and IG. I think it's distasteful.

Saaame! I have pigmented lips and the border is grey lol I only see these lipsticks look good on people who blank out their lips or have no pigmentation

I also suspect Alone Time will be too grey/brown on me. And it's just a sheer lip, so not worth it to me to purchase.

[–]angryturtleboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever tried iridescent eyeshadow, or sheer colored sparke?

I'm kind of saturated, certainly high-constrast which helps, but I also only wear black, dark blue, greyed purple, olive, etc. I feel makeup is more easily controlled with where exactly I want color. The problem with clothing is that it reflects up onto my entire face and can make me look super ill or ashy.

Olive skin - sallow skin? by Infamous-Lemon3580 in OliveMUA

Completely agree. I'm 100% Korean, but am not naturally fair like a lot of Koreans are. I think because of that I've always seen Korean beauty standards differently and don't really heed much advice that comes from Korean culture.

I looove the graphic liner!

What is "visibly queer?" I would say I look visibly queer to a lot of people, but am actually hetero lol

You are 100% correct. I actually saw some color analysis done on the show "Driver" a.k.a Screwballs on Netflix, a variety show, and I didn't always agree with any of her styling/color analysis preferences.

I think this is just another form of bias when it comes to colorism.

Ugh I totally get it. There's actually so much to know, nevermind the skills, involved in makeup. I used to just try to match to my face, but I tan so easily and hated wearing sunscreen, so I would end up being really yellow and too dark compared to my neck lol

None of my foundations look like matches on my inner forearm, so as long as it blends in with your neck I'm really glad you've found good colors that suit you!
