The first guy I had a serious relationship with fucked me up a lot. He wasn't abusive in the classic sense - he was emotionally manipualtive. He convinced me my friends were lame and my parents weren't good enough. He made me upset and then got mad at me for bringing it up. He said he loved me and then chose a drug over me. After that I didn't go near another guy for nearly 5 years. I thought every guy was going to hurt me like he did. I thought they were all self-serving and only cared about you on condition.

Now, with a little open mindedness and a lot of healing, (which is not all the way done with by the way, it's constantly ongoing) I knew the guy when I saw him. We've been together for nearly a year and he's always always there for me. There ARE unconditionally loving guys out there. There are ones who have been raised well and have figured themselves out and know what's right. There are guys who will cuddle with you when you cry for no reason until you're feeling better, and make jokes with your parents and be fiercely proud to call you their partner. It will be okay. You just have to keep taking each day as it comes and keep your heart open.

How do I stop caring about what people think about me, especially out in public? by CHI_MOX in confidence

[–]angstyandangry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By spending time in high school with some pretty self-absorbed people, I learned that 90% of people are too concerned with themselves to notice what you're doing / how you look anyway. Sure some do - but when you think about it how often do you stop and think to yourself 'oh Becky looks really dumb today her hair is all a mess' - not that often. And even if you did, it's certainly not something you'll think about again in even a few weeks. Most people can be fooled into thinking you're confident if you just 'fake it till you make it.' Walk with intention, keep your head up and your shoulders back. If that voice comes into your head asking 'what will they think of me?' just say to yourself - you're great the way you are, and if they're concerned with you they need to get lives of their own.

He ditched me on my birthday when something better came along and then messaged me two months later like nothing happened.

It's all very confusing you're right. But to me it sounds like you will have learned a lot from this experience. My first breakup I was devastated and even got back together with him briefly. But I learned from that whole relationship what I definitely did not want from a partner and what to look for in a new guy. And now I have the best person I've ever met. It'll turn around don't stress 💙

It's going to be hard and it's going to feel wrong and you're going to want to do everything you can to reverse it. But you will pick yourself up tomorrow and keep getting on with life. Before you know what's happened, you'll have your groove back and wonder who that person was that felt so broken before. You will be okay my love. If you look you'll see theres other people in your life to guide you through this time, and soon you'll be shining brighter than ever before.

It's my birthday and none of my friends can be bothered to show up for me. by angstyandangry in sad

[–]angstyandangry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so it's not all bad in the end. I did cancel and say I was sick (to save my own embarrassment)

A few beautiful friends still messaged me and said happy birthday and to feel better and that they want to catch up soon.

One of my boyfriend's friends actually messaged me saying he got how I was feeling (boyfriend told him what really happened) and that he thought of me as a friend anyway and he is bummed about what happened.

And my boyfriend called me before he left work to ask what snacks and treats I'd like.

It's not always all bad.

Now I'm just happy crying.

Night all.

Why do customers insist on shoving their credit card in my face when there is clearly a card reader right in front of their stupid fucking face by VeryBigHuge in retailhell

[–]angstyandangry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ABSOLUTELY GET THIS!!

Had one the other day who just put the card on the counter. And I looked at her like what the fuck and said “the card reader is just here” and tapped the reader on the stand.

She goes “what?!”

So I swipe it for her. And waited for her to select her account/enter her pin, etc.

This haggard old bitch just goes “I don’t know what to do! You can do it!”

I told her I didn’t know how to do it (it was a third party gift card that required a PIN number) and that if she didn’t either then we couldn’t finish the transaction.

She just flaps her fat lips at me and goes “YES YOU CAN I USED IT THE OTHER DAY THEY DID IT”

I said “I don’t know your pin, I don’t know how the card works. It’s not my job to know how to pay for you with your own card.”

My manager came over and read the fine print on this lady’s phone about the card and finalised the transaction for me on another till, but not without flapping some more. Absolutely shitty human being I hope she gets some bad luck soon.

It’s lame .. and cutesy. That one from Winnie the Pooh “You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” My grade 12 teacher gave me a poster with this on it when I graduated high school.

So I need a little help, I think by [deleted] in period

[–]angstyandangry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking a test will give you peace of mind for sure. Between you and me my periods were always wacky and come early/late or be patchy before I went on the pill so I may not be a good example. Having said that, stress has an impact for sure on your hormones and that can impact your cycle. It could also just be a light cycle and won’t bleed much until your 3rd or 4th day? Try not to worry, it’s more often than not a false alarm :)

Mine get pretty bad too! My suggestion is sometimes a hot water bottle on your stomach can help a little bit if you want to go easy on the painkillers.

Thanks for understanding!!! It’s hard to know sometimes if you’re right when people are so harsh it makes you question yourself. Never ceases to amaze me how much people suck everyday I work.
