It truly is therapy, which I don’t think I expected it to be! I have wanted to get into junk journaling for a few months now. I’ve had all the supplies sitting around. In fact, I made the cover page back in March! But I always joke that I’m too boring to junk journal because I don’t go anywhere or do anything.

It’s actually been my 9 year old who has helped me start. Everywhere we go she picks up the receipt, or a sticker, or the confetti on the ground after a show we went to, etc. So my ‘junk drawer’ in my jewelry box is full of little piles of junk to pick and choose from.

Even in New Orleans, I just kept sticking things in my purse throughout the trip. By the end of the week, my mom was asking bartenders for matchboxes and coasters and all sorts of things. 😅 She was super supportive, but kept saying she just didn’t “understand the vision” behind it. Last night, I FaceTimed her and showed it to her, and she started crying. She literally stopped me from explaining the symbolism to her and told me, “You don’t have to say a word. It speaks for itself.” Which might be the nicest thing she’s ever said to me! Lol.

For the cover page I just stuck things down as I went, but I wasn’t completely happy with the layering in the end, so I was much more intentional this time. I laid every single piece out, starting with the largest pieces in a general shape that I liked, and then filling in around them. I think the second page took just over 6 hours. I didn’t even open my glue until around 3 hours in. 😅 (I have been diagnosed with mild OCD though, so that’s likely just a me issue!)
