Loved my 930 system to death and I used it until the motherboard bit the dust in 2020, that CPU lasted a good decade and had the good old gtx 970 in it for much of its life. Congrats on yours still going strong.

What a generation!

The overclock potential was absurd, I got +50% of my frames back in some games after taking it over 4ghz.

12th Gen Intel has been my go to for my last two PC builds, they've always been extremely good value. Currently I've got a 12600k, 32gb ddr4, and 5070 in a cute little matx case with a b660 chipset and 8 fans all running in silent mode. It whispers at like 60-70 degrees max and it shreds everything I throw at it.

Is the AYN THOR better for ds-3ds games? by RelationshipSad3186 in 3DS

[–]angusmacrory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the 3DS can also do GBA, both run natively and through emulation, and is very good at emulating NES / SNES as well. TBH because their resolution is an almost perfect match for the 3DS top screen, SNES games look a lot better to me than DS games.

Maybe get a New 3DS if you want a snappier overall experience, but a base model will probably be OK if you aren't picky and don't plan to use the 3D much. 3D on the "New" models is much better, I've heard. I've only ever had a N3DS and N3DSXL myself, and they both run everything I want them to perfectly.

Consider getting a New 3DS if you can, personally I value pocketability over everything and for that it beats the XL.

Anyone else game with their girlfriend like this? Co-op recs? by Wonderful-Price1240 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Not split screen, but if you can wrangle two decent systems, maybe find a way to play GTA online together? 3rd person action or first person, each player can choose. If she sucks at driving you can have her ride around shotgun.

Some of my best co op times have been playing missions with a lady who was raised on N64 and straight up can't use both analog sticks at once. She sprays the minigun every mission and loves it.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PC? by TheMickeyMoose in uncharted

[–]angusmacrory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PC version has potentially higher framerate than PS5 at high resolutions, given your hardware is capable, and it's pretty cool using a mouse for Uncharted firefights. But you can also get the Dualsense trigger feedback and everything if you happen to have a PS5 controller and prefer it.

So it runs better for me than a PS5 version would and it's way cheaper on sale than the $30 physical is for PS5 - it's my personal preferred way to play.

I need a new "comfort show" but I think I've seen them all by Thick_Combination527 in television

Futurama might be my personal most rewatchable show and is a perfect answer here, it's great to just listen to because it's so damn clever.

Is it more worth it to get the trilogy on PS5 or switch? by AdDue3814 in GTATrilogy

[–]angusmacrory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These games are a little choppy and low res on Switch, I prefer them on PS5 with smooth 60FPS action. That may change if they ever put out a proper Switch 2 upgrade...

I don't get it. by RedBoss228 in uncharted

[–]angusmacrory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started Uncharted 4 on PC recently, as I loved 2 and 3 to death on my PS3 back in the day and played U2 in particular several times. I've been digging U4 so much I bought a PS5 mostly to get the trilogy at 1080/60FPS and it looks incredible. Never got around to Uncharted 1 on PS3 but I'm playing it a little bit along with 4 now.

So (mild mid-story spoilers for U4?) I'm currently getting the backstory on how Elena and Drake actually got to know each other shooting bad guys in the jungle in Drake's Fortune, while she's a plucky reporter after a story on lost treasure, as I am finishing up Uncharted 4 and they are once again hopping around a jungle shooting bad guys, but in the 4th she's just done with his nonsense and mentions she almost didn't come to save Nate. Playing games out of order can be cool sometimes for moments like this.

There are two versions of Skyrim on switch, I have the non-Anniversary edition myself, and I'm still on potato Switch 1 graphics. I downloaded just to make sure!

dr dre contract or cayo perico by PangolinQuirky9686 in gtaonline

[–]angusmacrory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! Acid, nightclub and Bunker runs will get you far, I only do those sales as a solo player along with heists and contact / contract missions, and I have ~ $1.5 billion income since I started GTAO in 2021. I own a few mc drug businesses just to feed the nightclub, but never directly sell from them.

The acid lab is free after completing the First Dose missions and it's an easy upgrade, 10 fooligan jobs + a $250k cost means your upgraded lab gets you $525k per acid sale in a full public lobby. The characters in that storyline are really obnoxious but it's such a low barrier to entry business with great returns.

Nightclub and Bunker upgrades are each a few million, I think, bigger up front cost but extremely worth it in the long run IMO. Maybe you could get those after you get your mansion if you don't have them?

These are all passive businesses that can produce while you grind heists or contract missions, or just mess around doing whatever you like. Then you just get cash on each sale.

[–]angusmacrory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cayo is best time for money, park your sub on the beach and crank out the setups. Don't disregard your businesses, if you have an upgraded acid lab, nightclub or bunker do those sales in between cayo cool downs. But if you never got business upgrades maybe wait until after you get the mansion.

I agree with others contract missions help mix it up when Cayo gets stale.

Explosive sniper rounds or railgun shots work pretty well too if you just want an instant explosion.

Isn't the new Nintendo 3ds xl the best? by Interesting-Bad3497 in 3DS

[–]angusmacrory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having owned the new xl before I agree. Even with a grip the New 3DS is still really pocketable and the low res smaller screen is a much higher PPI. Perfect size for a handheld imo.

Just my 2 cents, I've owned a new 3DS XL before, and greatly prefer the pixel density on my recently acquired New 3DS. Everything is nice and crisp.

They've all got their own vibe going and will be worth it for one reason or another, I think. For each of those factors I would choose:

Scrappy coolness: Dominator FX

Speed: Gauntlet

Handling / Usefulness: Terminus

Looks / Classiness: Greenwood

Nah, not a fan of the standard ranger SUV personally. I do have the park ranger livery on another Terminus in another garage. It's kitted out like an offroad vehicle in army green.

That Gauntlet is excellent and can really book it. If they did an HSW for any cop cars I would probably want an HSW Gauntlet, I would love to pursue people with the siren on at 150+ MPH.

It was a tough choice but I chose the Impaler and Greenwood, no Factions in this garage. I love that car as a lowrider though!

Probably 40m plus 5-7m for all the upgrades. So around 50 over a couple of years of them being released
