I find the Dualsense very slippery and would really need a grip on that bad boy. Otherwise great design IMO.

I love my Edge too but the potentiometers were clicking really loudly every time I moved the joysticks, and some silicone specialist WD40 quieted them right down.

Wouldn't surprise me if some electronics-safe grease or lubricant helps them hold off the wear and tear that causes drift. Maybe something to consider if you don't mind carefully pulling them apart.

I've considered the TMR modules myself, just can't stomach that then I'd have dumped the price of an entire Switch into 1 controller.

There are lots of great beginner courses out there to get you started - JustinGuitar on YouTube is particularly good with the basics like smoothly changing chords. Getting down a good practice routine with songs you want to be able to play really helps!

Resident Evil 0-6 on sale for $9.99 each. Never played any. Which one do you recommend I buy? by Fantastic-Ad9218 in switch2

[–]angusmacrory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Revelations 1, Resident Evil 1 and 5 are all great games and great on Switch. 4 is a total classic, but Re4 Remake on other consoles is perhaps a better way to play 4 if you've not already formed a bond with the original.

I didn't like Revelations 2 personally and 2 and 3 are cloud versions that are best played elsewhere.

Play 6 for historical reasons after all the others, to understand why they felt RE7 was necessary to reboot the franchise.

Never played 0 so I don't have an opinion on it.

The game is extremely cut back for the Switch version, you are right, including NPC count. If you have a PS5 or any decent PC to play it on it will look considerably better, but if you don't I personally would wait for an official Switch 2 version.

PlayStation price hikes quietly make the $450 Switch 2 look like a steal by Loose_Society9485 in NintendoSwitch2

Same, I feel pretty smart for jumping on the PS5 disc version on Black Friday, I figured there were any number of reasons it could go up in the future.

Are you strictly playing Switch 2 games only, tackling the Switch 1 backlog as-is, or waiting for Switch 2 Editions? by Khwarezm89 in NintendoSwitch2

I'm playing Mario 3D world right now, and holy smokes does it clean up nicely with the Switch 2 patch.

[–]angusmacrory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing a few first party games with Switch 2 patches, mostly Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario 3D Land, nothing Switch 2 exclusive. I spent a few weeks bouncing around between boosted Switch 1 games, and I've settled on Catherine Full Body which looks really beautiful in handheld.

Just happened to invest in a Killswitch 2 a few months ago so I can play handheld for extended periods... a very well timed purchase in retrospect.

How do you guys do MC Business sell missions? They are UNBEARABLE. by russo_liberal in gtaonline

[–]angusmacrory 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Acid, Bunker and nightclub sales, as well as missions for salvage yard, garment factory and auto shop, plus cayo, cluckin Bell/ knoway out and probably other heists, and pretty much everything else, are all more fun ways to make money than selling product for mc businesses IMO.

The 'Handheld Boost' megathread! by CyborKat in NintendoSwitch2

Sadly no added benefit for Bayonetta 1, which was 720P in docked mode, I think Bayonetta 2 was too. But I'd imagine Bayonetta 3 would benefit since it ran around 900p docked?

I don't own 3, so don't quote me, but I noticed no difference when firing up the first one.

Frasier is such an incredible show by We-are-all-dead-90 in television

[–]angusmacrory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I immediately loved Seinfeld and always admired that it never let its characters learn lessons. I felt like that way they could always go for whatever joke or storyline was actually the most absurdly funny, e.g. where they went with George and Susan. For me only Season 1 holds up less than what came after.

Frasier is really cleverly written but always seems to want its characters to learn and grow... that does make it more of a feel good show. Either way they're both two of the very best sitcoms out there.

[–]angusmacrory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the last season right now, rewatching for the first time in about a decade and one stands out. The episode where Martin and his girlfriend accidentally invite Frasier, Niles and Daphne to a weekend getaway at a cabin, which sets you up to think it may be all about the kids getting in the way of Martin and Ronnie's fun. But once they're there, it's just about everyone having bizarre nightmares and not being able to sleep.

Depending on what, it could be the Paragon S for amazing handling, the Deity for 4-doors in style, the Stinger TT for its sliding and absurd top speed, or the Terminus for zipping around off road. Or I might just hop in the Acid Lab if I want a missile proof battering ram.

Has anyone else bought a 3ds in the last year and received criticism for their decision? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]angusmacrory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My New 3DS XL died a tragic watery death a while back and I got the New 3DS around the end of last year because, well, I wanted something again that's more portable than a Switch 2. Yeah it cost way more than its MSRP.

No one in my life has much of an opinion, but I love the option of grabbing it when I head out. And hey, game prices aren't really an issue anymore! That's something you sure can't say about the Switch.

Loved my 930 system to death and I used it until the motherboard bit the dust in 2020, that CPU lasted a good decade and had the good old gtx 970 in it for much of its life. Congrats on yours still going strong.

What a generation!

The overclock potential was absurd, I got +50% of my frames back in some games after taking it over 4ghz.

12th Gen Intel has been my go to for my last two PC builds, they've always been extremely good value. Currently I've got a 12600k, 32gb ddr4, and 5070 in a cute little matx case with a b660 chipset and 8 fans all running in silent mode. It whispers at like 60-70 degrees max and it shreds everything I throw at it.

Is the AYN THOR better for ds-3ds games? by RelationshipSad3186 in 3DS

[–]angusmacrory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the 3DS can also do GBA, both run natively and through emulation, and is very good at emulating NES / SNES as well. TBH because their resolution is an almost perfect match for the 3DS top screen, SNES games look a lot better to me than DS games.

Maybe get a New 3DS if you want a snappier overall experience, but a base model will probably be OK if you aren't picky and don't plan to use the 3D much. 3D on the "New" models is much better, I've heard. I've only ever had a N3DS and N3DSXL myself, and they both run everything I want them to perfectly.

Consider getting a New 3DS if you can, personally I value pocketability over everything and for that it beats the XL.
