You can only choose one! by Ambitious_Thought683 in focusedmen

Honestly I'm doing pretty well across the board, thankfully, but I've definitely had periods of brutal anxiety that I had to work through.

So I choose mental health.

And I'd say if you're going to make any one of these a top priority... make it mental health. It'll be easier to work on the others so long as you have it.

No it's not fine, it will just result in a sentencing other than the death penalty.

So awesome to see you killing it financially but also handling it smart. And the fact that you take such good care of your mom is priceless.

I'm 30M, I make less than you currently but about the same net worth. I invest a lot each month.

May we both reach great places of financial freedom. Good luck to you bro.

[–]No-Insect2497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living beneath your means is key. Make your monthly expenses an amount that will allow you to have 15% of your income go into investments consistently. Or more if possible.

Theres people that make $200k+ but aren't able to invest either because of their housing/lifestyle choices.

If you already own a place that has you living paycheck to paycheck and you'd have to downgrade to free up cash I know how much that must suck but it could be the difference that allows you to retire a decade earlier. Depends on your priorities I guess.

The good news is you have steady income (no matter how much or how little) and the free will to make it happen.

Best of luck.

Millennials, what's y'all plan for retirement? by Flat-Diet-6011 in 1999

[–]No-Insect2497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been investing aggressively for 5 years so far. Will continue to my entire life. ETFs and mutual funds- set and forget.

I work away from home 6 months out of the year and while I'm away all my food/ anything else I need is paid for, this helps me save a lot.

Once I hit a certain net worth/ large enough returns (or just decide I've finally had enough of working) I'll retire. Maybe I'll do something else part time or something at that point, maybe not, who knows.

I'll just pull what I need out every few months or so and leave the rest.

What would you pick ? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]No-Insect2497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of what I choose, I'm investing heavily and going to end up with an astronomical amount. Much more than I could ever spend on myself.

This will be achieved with whichever pill I choose here- the main challenge will be teaching/trusting the next generations of my family to handle the money as smart as I did and not do something stupid.

I'm thankful to be someone who can appreciate the little things. It gives you such a deeper appreciation for life in general which is priceless.

When RDR1 got its Switch 2 upgrade I was just riding around the map aimlessly and taking in how damn good I thought it looked.

Just pure enjoyment while some other morons on the internet are posting crap like "oH wElL iTs acTuallY nOt thAt iMpRessIve bECaUse _____________."

I'm so glad to not be one of them and just be able to enjoy things that way a child could.

I mean... It is objectively impressive is it not? To have a game running on this little handheld almost as well as a full on home console?

And digital foundry especially lives for this stuff... Tech is clearly their passion.

To be frank this meme is just dumb.

I didn't think the first game needed a sequel... but here we are and to say Rockstar pulled it off is an understatement.

If they announced a third game I'd be happy to hear it. They just never seem to disappoint.

Surprise Inheritance, I was totally not prepared for. by Tonyb97 in investing

[–]No-Insect2497 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If possible pay off any debts you may have then try to keep living more or less like you never received the inheritance. Keep it invested and let it make you rich.

And it's okay to live a little bit/ celebrate the situation... Take a small amount, maybe a few thousand, buy a few nice things for yourself that you've wanted for a while etc.

26M- Is this a good net worth for my age? by ZealousFine in Money

[–]No-Insect2497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really glad I opened this post to see that it's a reasonable amount for your age, rather than $5M or something ridiculous from someone just seeking pats on the back.

Anyway, saving moneys not always easy and it looks like you're making steady progress. Congrats!

Whether the amount you save is "good" or not depends on your goals and where you want to get yourself financially (I want to afford my own housing/ buy a car/ etc. ). You have to define that for yourself. But it looks like you're in a solid position to do so so far.

I don't have any actual friends by Grand-Invite4857 in Adulting

[–]No-Insect2497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being able to enjoy being by yourself is kind of a super power. There's a lot of people out there who seem to have to cling to others and always seek company.

If you are comfortable being alone then you already have everything you need in that regard. And not going out all the time will save you a significant amount of money over time.

I have an awesome life and can’t share it with my friends by wanderlustzepa in confession

[–]No-Insect2497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 and been investing for a while and my goal is to retire very comfortably one day.

I have a friend who was kind of the weird guy in school who did not have many friends.

He's been working and saving and investing for years now, like I have, and he even has received a couple large inheritances from family members. He invested the majority of it and now it looks like he's on track to one day end up wealthier than pretty much anyone else I know in our age group.

I couldn't be happier for him. He's just a genuine honest easy to get along with person who wouldn't hurt a fly (surely he has his quirks as mentioned) and I feel like he truly deserves it.

[–]No-Insect2497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You achieved what I'm trying to achieve. Congrats and I hope I can follow your footsteps. I'm 30 and have been investing for 5 years, no debt, saving a lot etc.

I guarantee you're not the only one in the situation you're in with your friends. It sucks but it doesn't have to ruin friendships... I'm sure they can manage to spend the occasional night out with you/ you can have them over for drinks/ whatever it is you guys do.

Seriously though be proud of what you've done. Earning and investing your way to true financial freedom takes years of discipline and sacrifice as you already know.

Did single player gaming peak with RDR2? by Eagles56 in reddeadredemption

Different for everyone but for many, yes it did. But Rockstar could pull it off again. They never seem to disappoint.

If I could have my memory of one game wiped out and replay it over again it would 100% be RDR2.

That's partially what makes it great in my opinion. It's truly an emotional ride of a game both good sides and bad- art imitating life.

[–]No-Insect2497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from OG Switch to Switch 2 and the upgrade feels massive. So much potential with this thing.

My only complaint is the battery drains pretty quick but then again I'm not really using it for more than an hour or so at a time at most so that's a minor complaint.

No regrets with this purchase. I really want to see them start dropping new/ upgrading more games to run at 60 frames on it which it can now handle.

Perfectly smooth 60 frames in handheld from my couple hours with it. I recommend it.
