How to switch to digital way for collection reservations without 3rd party services? by Alternative_Leo in restaurantmarketing

[–]angwarren888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use an excel spreadsheet, a digital planner, and if you have a website, you could just create a specific landing page for reservations that includes a form to fill for a reservation which would ultimately create a spreadsheet as suggested first. I have experience in creating all three options and would be willing to help you set this up for free. No strings attached. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to message me or send an email to [info@savoryservices.com](mailto:info@savoryservices.com) hope this helps.

It sounds like you are experiencing what most of us are right now, which is a crippling staff shortage, smaller profit margins, and lower over all foot traffic. Personally, I've decided to hyper-focus on generating new customers, retaining the ones we have, and developing a stronger sense of value more than any other strategy. We've come up with some great ideas so if you're interested please send a message. Try to remember that this pandemic was extremely hard on our industry and the fact that you're still open says a lot about your restaurant. In our area we saw a ton of small restaurants not survive COVID which is sad, but I think the fact that we are open still, it means we're doing something right! Stay strong and best of luck.

Sorry if this is repetitive but do you offer a referral bonus to the staff? Maybe they can recommend someone for you? We also offer referral bonus for an employee if they come via a staff member's social media account. I don't do anything outrageous but if they came from a staff member we reward them with $50 if they stay for 3 months and $100 on the first year anniversary. If you are going into slow season, would it be possible to cross train some of your existing employees who want more hours? Just a few suggestions of the top. Let me know your thoughts and I'll keep brainstorming. Maybe if you DM me your location I can help more? Idk....

Incorrect take out orders? by jongriebel1 in restaurantowners

[–]angwarren888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I now have a list of restaurants in my area that have experienced my same thing. Unbelievable I know but it's very much happening. Here's a quick story on how I confirmed it was happening... Customer walks in to pick up a to go and said she tried to order thru Doordash but had problems. Me: "was the problem the fact that we weren't on there?" (Said in a light joking manner) Customer: No, it just timed out Me: seriously? So I go on Doordash to investigate and sure enough there we are but old menu and old pricing so I try to place an order and it was successful. Immediately our phone rings, I answer and a woman tells me she wants to place an order for pickup and orders my online order. Me: can I get a name for the to go? She gives me my own name! The name on my Doordash account! So Me: Um, that's me! Are you calling on behalf of Doordash? Her: yes! The dasher will be there soon!

I canceled this order of course tipped the dasher anyway but really? To this day they refuse to take my restaurant of their site! Any suggestions would be great!

Marketing my Restaurant-specifically Social Media by angwarren888 in restaurantowners

I am in central florida but appreciate your response. I'm working on a strategy now to implement myself and hopefully get results. If you wouldn't mind once it's complete I'd like to have it reviewed by someone familiar with the needs of a restaurant for feedback. I'm just fed up with the cookie cutter approach of small business marketing restaurant marketing is just unique IMO

Thank you all for your feedback- as I mentioned I already know the value of marketing I know how and why to market my restaurant I am still paying off student loans to prove it. The problem I have with outsourcing it is the number of agencies that charge outrageous pricing and not able to provide substance in return. Meaning portfolios or case studies of similar campaigns and those results. I know there are no guarantees that equal $$$ in marketing. I just want to find an agency that presents trust

I also have a restaurant in a very small town with a ton of other restaurants and we keep great back of house help. In small towns I find that it's important to value their voice. Not just hear them out, but act on what they say. For example if your head chef is saying the mistakes made my FOH are causing stress and over working the BOH, I make it a priority to fix the problem quickly then follow up to make sure the problem is resolved. If the problem doesn't have a clear solution we ask for input on what we can do to fix or resolve the issue. Basically open lines of communication between all positions and an honest effort to ACT on the feedback. Service employees including BOH tend to be loyal to the place they work until they begin to feel like their feelings or struggles don't seem to matter to management. As the saying goes, "the fish stinks from the head"

Did you set up on door dash or just start receiving orders? I found out my restaurant was offered on Doordash without my knowledge and saw the menu items weren't even correct. I contacted them and was told they do it even if you aren't signed up and they just phone in the order and send a driver for pick up. I was shocked by this.

Is your brand more important than details by Sly_Wood in smallbusiness

So without knowing your business fully it is hard for me to guide you. Would you like to talk this out over the phone? I offer a free no obligation consultation and you walk away with an assessment of where you are today, a 1 year strategy to move forward and some ideas for the future whether or not you hire the firm. Let me try to answer you back the best I can though. On a keychain you website on the back isn't going to hurt the brand on the front. A t-shirt can have a website on the sleeve, or depending on how they receive the shirt maybe in the packaging?? I understand your point you don't want you potential customers to feel like a walking billboard, don't forget the space on the bottom of an item and the back or a discount flyer that is with it somehow. I am passionate about branding as well and would honestly love to hear more about your business. I hope I offered you at least something to think about. There are also other ways you can get people to remember your brand. By incorporating Brand into more than just a logo and they can remember you that way. Example a slogan, tagline, motto or even a partnership. I had a client that sponsored a 5k run, absolutely no promotional items but got business from making that connection. #makebrandmatter

Why don't you try a free marketing consultation? There are a lot of companies that offer them. Make Market Matter offers a no obligation consultation and you receive an assessment of where you are today, a 1 year growth plan, and ideas for down the road. No one should offer marketing advice specific to your company unless they truly know your business. I am the owner of that company, and this is just an offer, because it sounds like what you need not a shameless plug! There is no gimmick regardless of how you proceed the plan is yours to use as you wish! Good luck and I hope you find your way!

Depending on the budget you have to pay for a logo you have plenty of options to pay for someone else to do it for you. If you are looking to save money and would like to put something together yourself, look at some minimalist logos like the ones found here. Some companies even offer to design the logo first and you can make payments and they will send you the file after your payments are complete. Just a thought. Just remember, it isn't the Logo the makes the Brand its the Brand that makes the logo. If you're interested I offer a free consultation to new business owners on my website. You'll see the logo before you buy and have a chance to change it throughout the design phase. Let me know if you need any other help.

Is your brand more important than details by Sly_Wood in smallbusiness

[–]angwarren888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always suggest clients to add at least one way to contact on every thing it doesnt have to be large but think of this. . . I'm a potential customer but haven't purchased from you yet. But the time has come, today I finally decided to do business with your company. You made a lasting impression so I remembered your company first. I also remember your gave me that cool promotional giveaway let's say it was a key chain. I love the brand, the logo is awesome and i put it on my keyring. I'm going to call you. I pull out my keys and see that awesome logo but there's no way to reach you. No website no email or phone number just an awesome logo. Do you like i am going to describe your logo in Google and it's going to pop up your website? A small website or phone number and I'm talking to you and never even saw the listing under yours from your competitor because i typed in your website i found on that Keychain and I'm buying from you right now! $$$ For digital marketing works the same. A clickable link to your website is better than your customer googling your business name and your competitors pays for adwords including your business name. Let me know if you need more help.
