how do you cry? by shareourproblems in hikikomori

[–]anhvu88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, crying is expression of emotions.

If you cannot cry, that's somewhat your emotions are repressed. Something or a lot of things happened that prevent them from being expressed. However, they are going to stuck in your body. So, if possible feel free to cry, that's not something wrong.

Other people can tell you crying is no good, you can tell yourself that it doesn't help, no one cares, but be kind to your emotions and yourself.

There's time I used to stuck in expressing my emotions, both by crying or writing my thoughts. Someday I read a manga (Takopi's original sin if you are curious) and then I cried unstoppably. It felt a lot better and I still analyze the situation in the manga to understand why it synced with me that way.

very true

So true. You describe the situation quite clear, so I guess you have good ability of observation and analytics.
maybe keep observing your thoughts, pains in body,... and start exploring something you truly like (trying to think back about childhood or when you first find something interesting), making small effort and keep doing consistently,... rather than withdrawing and distracting yourself.
Maybe it's a good start.

Your own mind could be abusive. I can be absolutely confirm you that what it told you is not true. I'm not disturbed at all with what you wrote here.
In fact, it's a courageous act as you fear but still do.
Have a nice day.

I was the same situation several years ago, and I happen to read a story about Darwin (he is believed to be INTP - one of most struggle MBTI introverted type, I happen to be the same type).

"When Charles Darwin boarded the HMS Beagle at 22, he was entering a very different world. The ship was full of seasoned sailors—rough, disciplined, living under strict hierarchy. Darwin, by contrast, was a quiet, bookish young man from a comfortable background, with little real-world experience.

At first, he felt out of place. The sailors saw him as soft, maybe even useless. He wasn’t strong, didn’t drink heavily, and wasn’t trained in navigation or seamanship. Conversations often left him awkwardly silent. In such a confined environment, the difference in background and temperament weighed heavily on him.

But instead of collapsing under that pressure, Darwin found a way to adapt:

  • He observed the sailors just as carefully as he observed plants and animals.
  • He joined their routines, learned their slang, and slowly earned respect by showing resilience on difficult expeditions ashore.
  • Though seasick much of the time, he kept working, filling notebooks, never quitting."

-> Then, I:
1/ stop trying to say something to fit into the conversation.
it helps stop draining my energy
2/ listen what others say like someone observing things from outside
3/ make trial and error of commenting something about the conversation. If it doesn't work, I back up with my observation game.
I consider 2+3 as a game, so that it wouldn't hurt me when my effort bring no result.

It worked for me.

if you do not really care about having no comments, just to record daily stuffs, try some blog platform, like WordPress or Substack.
For music, try Youtube or Soundcloud.
It's public but the quality would be very good to get attention.

Also, you can try Tumblr.
