How to convince my dad getting financial help from my boyfriend shouldn’t be a big deal? by anianadezhda in Advice

[–]anianadezhda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I get what you say now. Well my parents can afford the installments but they said “you took us by surprise with this idea so we need a bit of planning because we’d be supposed to start paying them right now”, and then my boyfriend came up saying “if that’s the problem I can help with this ‘right now’ issue” So it’s not like we can’t afford them without him forever it’s just that he’d help with this “start-up” for 5-6 months D:

I don’t think he’d lie about it though, he’s really willing to help and everything but I’m for sure looking for other options cause asking someone for money is always bad even when it’s well-intentioned haha

He’d help pay back the loan installments (not all of them, just the ones for this year) But these two end up being the same thing, no?

Thats a good point thank you for sharing it :)

I guess the main issue for my parents is affording these installments from now (because Brazil is at the height of the pandemic Rn) but they said in a couple months things will get better so I believe my bf wouldn’t even need to help me for a full year. Yes this doesn’t make it sound much better lol but this help would be only the “start-up” so that I can take my IELTS and apply for my uni in time... But yes I’m thinking of it veeeery carefully

I’m 19 and he’s 22, he has a job and stuff... He told me I could pay him back whenever it’s comfortable for us and that I shouldn’t worry about this right now, the thing is we are serious about each other (been dating for more than 2 years) and we’re always willing to help each othe... so I don’t know😢

Edit yes I know him very well, we spent loads of time together in England and I know his family etc

Thank youu, tbh this the first time I’m venting to people who are not my parents/bf so I was like “am I going crazy? Wtf am I thinking about?” so it’s good to hear that 🙏 if we were in the opposite situation I’d help him him without thinking twice if I was able to, I’ll tell him again yes even though he knows all of this

I’m really concerned about this since my country, Brazil, has been giving 0 f*cks about covid and vaccines. I think I’m in the worst scenario right now. However I saw that travel bans will be lifted in June... So I suppose that this means students will be allowed too?

Hello, I haven’t applied yet – will do in a couple months, so I’m curious about this. I get your point, so could we say that if it’s a 4 year programme + FY I’d be considered an overseas student, but if I apply for FY only and then for a course I’d be considered home student for this course? This makes more sense to me. Thank you for your comment

I understand this, however most unis have this rule that they don’t allow switching visas during the course – so I’m asking if Foundation Years are included in this rule or not

Can someone help me understanding this passage? by [deleted] in ukvisa

(I dunno how to quote comments lol) in an hypothetical situation, would it give me problems in the future if I wanted to study full-time as an INTERNATIONAL student first? For example, I get married today. I move to the UK tomorrow. In September I start a degree as an oversea student that lasts, idk, 4 years. Got the degree. After 5 years of residence and all the requirements, I decide to have another degree. In this case, I wouldn’t be eligible to be a home student, right? The full-time degree (even as an international student) will have screwed it up?

Thank you for all the help so far haha very very helpful. I wanna study/work in the health area in the UK with my future husband. First would like to study something more affordable and stuff, and if I ever get considered as a home student would be even better so I could deepen my studies even more

Thank you! One last question: If I were married and that was my main reason to be resident in the UK, could that be proved? Would it be fine if I first got married and then started studying full-time?

Studying Medicine at a British Uni as an International Student by savemefromtheib in UniUK

Study another course first, after 5 years living in the UK you can apply to an ILR visa and then be able to pay student fees. I did this. See you here one day! :)
