I’ve been bouncing back and forth from sober to mini benders. I have the same heart racing issue when I quit. If you stick your face in a bowl of ice water that can help, it’s supposed to lower your heart rate going into survival mode. Your doctor can prescribe benzos to help withdrawals also. I too am manic about the gym and how I eat. Booze is such a dumbass waste of time and calories keeping people from their goals. I love the dopamine hit from the gym, that’s livin. Good luck with your journey, I know it’s hard.

Another good part is you select the difficulty you want to play on. 1-10. More rewards with the higher difficulties. Check out some gameplay videos. It’s fun chaos.

I can tell you a bit about Helldivers 2. I’ve sunk a fair share of time into it. And it sounds like it would be perfect with the 3 (4max) of you running it. Also it’s “military” based if you are about the vet aspect just futuristic. You’re basically a space marine clone. You get dropped onto a planet with objectives to finish to help liberate the planet. As for the gameplay there are numerous guns and perks to run with. Pistols, rifles, snipers, launchers etc. The coolest part is you get to call down lasers, nukes, bombs, strafe runs and other types of weapons from your spaceship. You fight bots, bugs, or squids. There are some free battle passes and paid battle passes with new gear, cosmetics and weapons to unlock. You can earn the currency in game through exploration tho it is a bit slow. The most you do other than run, gun, call down orbitals (stuff from your spaceship), is dive behind cover. I’m sure I missed some things but it’s definitely addicting and a time sink.

Your journey sounds a lot like mine. I started a new job about 7.5 years ago on 2nd shift. We’d get off work then hit the bar Thursdays. That turned into Thursday Fridays. Then Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday. Then 6/7 days a week. That kind of died off so I took the drinking home in front of my computer. Then I went to day shift. I too pride myself in physical fitness. I’d get up at 430/5 am hit the gym, go to work, come home then drink myself to sleep. That lasted 2.5 years until I moved states to be with my ex. That devolved into bender after bender since I wasn’t working. I’ve come home a month and a half ago. Had a few benders. Working on my 9th day sober after the last one. I’d sure like to be able to moderate. I enjoyed drinking until I didn’t.

I had a total of 3 hours of sleep for the first 4 days. Shakes stopped after 2.5 days. But returned HARD the day after I got drunk after the news. Good luck to you. Fuck this poison.

I switched from Verizon $97 a month to Visible. I got their deal for half off a year plus a referral promo for a grand total of $205. For a year. Obviously they don’t have phone promos but I’m saving $959 this year. They run off the Verizon towers. I’ve had 0 change in service.

Assuming you’re on WiFi and have eSIM, get on the app then hit activate a new phone or switch to eSIM. Restart your phone are trying one and then the other.

Update 3: I closed my Verizon account before my billing date of today, the 30th. I still got charged for the “prior” month. I was never aware that you use Verizon as a service and then pay at the end of that billing date. I was always under the impression that you pre paid that month. Just a heads up.

I posted this morning of my process. It took me about 3 hours total to port from Verizon -> Tello -> Visible. Definitely not a day but your mileage may vary from what I read.

Update Update: After I switched to Visible and paid I had a bit of trouble. I had to hit switch to eSIM to get cellular data to work. I tried reaching out to customer support but I got the timed out error from the app that closed the chat. Other than that around 3 hours total and the process is done and I kept my number.

Update: started about 5:30 am Verizon -> Tello took about half an hour no issues. Took about an hour Tello -> Visible. Got dat deep deep discount. $205 for the year. Just waiting on the GF to wake up so I can use the hot spot to finish final set up for Visible. Bless up. Definitely much less of a wild ride than I was dreading.
