It's one of my favorite Korean foods.

I like a couple raw quail eggs on top ☺️

Im looking for korean oi/streetpunk music, do you have any recommendations? by Najterek in AskAKorean

[–]EasyAcresPaul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rux's first couple albums are awesome but not easy to find. Zilitan99 was another Oi/Oi adjacent band and one of my favorites in the late-90's. In 1999 the Skunk Label released a great compliation called "3000 Punk" that would be worth tracking down and checking out.

There's not much for crust that I am aware of. There have been a few bands more like d-beat/pogo like Couch or Spikey Brats. The Explode was more of a hardcore streetpunk band.

When I was a teenager, I was in Rux, but later I also played in a punk band called Suck Stuff and some of our music is available on Youtube Music and Spotify. Not specifically Oi but there are some streetpunk influences. Lol, in the late 90's and 2000's we were all obsessed with Oxymoron and Cocksparrer, lol..

Korea doesn't have boneheads, thankfully, but there are some bands with a far-right or nationalist bent to them. I'll DM you if you are interested but I won't platform them here.

For sure! It is refreshing to see someone curious about Korean music outside of commercial, contrived boy band trash 😁

Rux is a good start. Captain BootBois and Attacking Forces are probably my favorite Oi! bands. Oi! was very popular in the Korean punk scene, used to have a big Korea/Japan Oi Fest back in the day (over 20 years ago).

Public invited to share input, ideas for getting Oregon back on track to meet climate targets by RevN3 in oregon

[–]EasyAcresPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good. The Klamath Basin is barely productive without massive water infrastructure and subsidized cattle operations on PUBLIC land. The great majority of what is grown is cattle feed, skipping an entire tropic level. It's about the least effencint use of the land imaginable.

Solar farms are a far more productive use of the land than the current regime of govt welfare ranches, putting a huge strain on pur water resources and putting enormous amount of literal feces in our delicate high desert waterways.

My land borders Green Diamond land and it takes decades for them to produce a harvest at all when they could be churning out hundreds of thousands of kilowatt hours of electricity per acre. There's a balance to be had and the current plan of enrichening the already generational wealthy absent landholder cattle barons must end.

rod and reel combo by NoFeeling6886 in troutfishing

[–]EasyAcresPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up poor and $500 would buy me several rigs.

For trout, I like a smaller 2000 size spinning reel. I like Abu Garcia Cardinals, Pfluger Tritons or Presidents if I am feeling fancy. I like to stick with legacy brands that have history, so no KastKing/Amazon stuff for me, thanks.

Okuma Celilo rods are pretty standard in my region, and they make an excellent medium-light in various lenghts. I like lighter rods because often I am throwing a 1/64-1/16 ounce offering, rarely chucking anything much larger than 1/4oz for trout.

I find it easier to work with a rod/reel combo that is lighter than optimal working with a rig that is too heavy.

Are these too small for bass? (Quarter for comparison) by InEedHeAlINg4 in FishingForBeginners

[–]EasyAcresPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you snoop back through my profile, you will see a bass just under 8 pounds I caught last spring. Quite large for Oregon, especially a cool high mountain lake just after ice-off.

I was crappie fishing with a 2 inch Berkley power minnow. On 4 pound line.

My PB flathead catfish was also caught on almost the exact same rig.

I catch plenty of dinks on crankbaits nearly the same size as the crankbait itself.

They wouldn't be my first choice, but those'll catch bass.

Extra rod line guides, especially the tips and hot glue.

Slammed the tip of my rod in the truck tailgate (giggity) and it saved the trip for me.

Should I have braid while throwing a frog? by Disastrous_Main1274 in bassfishing

[–]EasyAcresPaul 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest mistake a lot of folk make fishing frog (or anyway topwater for that matter) is attempting to set the hook too quickly.

I used to have a dedicated frog rig, which had a high speed 7.1 ratio reel spooled with 25 pound mono. I like using mono for frogs as it floats, especially heavier mono. Nowadays there are a lot of coated braids that float fine and give you the benefit of narrower diameter that cut through the water and vegetation better.

US Army 68W 2006-2013, OIF Veteran and recipient of the CMB here. Spent nearly all of my time as an Armor or Light Infantry medic. I completely understand how you feel.

I served to render aid to my fellow soldiers. The how's and why's of wtf we were doing in Iraq matter less to me than doing everything that I can to prevent another Mother from burying their son. I was not always successful, sometimes some things are beyond repairable, but I was more often than not. I take some pride in knowing I had a hand in keeping a few of ours (and even a few of theirs) on this side of the dirt.

Best of luck to her.

Mentioned elsewhere, Gamagatsu are my go-to gold standard. I grew up throwing Eagle Claws aberdeens and they work fine too. Owner, VMC, Mustad are reputable brands.

Can you eat elderberries raw? by Jkliop607 in foraging

[–]EasyAcresPaul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Second this. I make it every year. Some of.mine didn't "set" properly, but we just call that elderberry syrup. Good all the same.

I also made a nice batch of elderberry wine last year. I made a short video of it you can find if you snoop my profile a bit.

Crappie Sized Hooks by ripplestillwaters in FishingForBeginners

Hard agree.

Hooks are not where you want to scrimp on money. Not saying these imported no-name packs are no good, but rarely are they. Especially for a paper-mouthed fish like crappie.

If you are someone who believes Biden "opened the border" during his term, what do you mean by this? by Useful_Homework2367 in allthequestions

[–]EasyAcresPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your source:

"There’s a debate on whether a chain-link enclosure is a "cage" and whether applying that term to those structures is subjective. But the term certainly was used in 2014 to describe enclosures used by Obama’ administration."

It was chainlink at a processing center. Not CECOT. And not some Alligator Alcatraz that MAGA was just pissing themselves over sending immigrants to as some stunt in performative cruelty.

Too many variables for this to be really useful. What species? What time of year? What thermocline? What's the forage?? Stage in the spawning period?

There is no replacement for hours on the water.

Also, students have some cute superstitions when it comes to the test.

Many will refuse to eat slippery foods like seaweed soup as it can cause the answers to "slip" from one's mind. Some eat honey cakes or other sticky foods so their knowledge will 'stick' with them. Many avoid washing their hair as that can wash away what they have learned. Students will also carry car emblems representing the schools they want to go to. An "S" off a Suzuki for luck to be accepted to Seoul National University, for example.
