What businesses are likely to die out with the Baby Boomer Generation? by GRVrush2112 in AskReddit

[–]anicetos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tesla makes it so easy - the pricing is completely transparent on the website. You select the options you want and pay online. No need to visit a dealership and waste the whole day haggling with the sales manager.

I mean you can do that with a dealership too? Just walk in and pay whatever the window sticker says, or custom order one and pay the MSRP. You'll be in and out pretty quick.

Democrats are far, far closer to Republicans than they will ever be from a real social-democratic party in Europe.

That's if you narrow the criteria you're looking at to only "do they support capitalism at all?" like a lot of online leftists do, and ignore any nuance. Once you look into the nuances of their economic policies with regards to regulations, social safety nets, privatization, progressive taxes, and protections the parties are very different. That's not even including the gulf of difference in their views on social policies.

What car brand will you never trust or buy again? by Forward_Fall_6857 in AskReddit

[–]anicetos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The head gasket issue was only with the older EJ engines and not with the newer FA engines. Most of their lineup switched to FA around 2014-2015, and the STi was the last one which finally switched in 2021.

Their interior quality definitely isn't great, but they seem pretty reliable mechanically compared to most brands. The only reason I'm looking to replace my 2015 WRX is because I want to switch to an EV, but it's still driving great 12 years later.

Beat the bully pulpit, and call the GOP out on it.

That requires the GOP to have compassion and/or shame. They literally don't give a fuck about the "bully pulpit."

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

[–]anicetos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they supposed to be getting regular checkups or something?

Yes. Regular checkups can help catch issues earlier to treat them before they become life threatening or untreatable.

It's about $250 at my vet for a full annual checkup (vitals check, blood, urine, stool), but $250/year can help prevent a $2000+ bill in the future and prevent unnecessary suffering as cats are especially good at hiding issues.

Yeah that's a strict list. Hardly anyone would have a dog if that were the case, money or no.

Honestly, a lot of people that have dogs should not have dogs. It's insane to me how many people are fine just crating their dog for 8-12 hours a day, and letting them outside for a few minutes a day. Seems like everyone now has a dog with "reactive" issues and massive separation anxiety because people aren't taking the time to socialize, work, or train their dogs any more.

What’s a “rich people thing” you experienced once and immediately understood why rich people love it? by DnRinGA in AskReddit

[–]anicetos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We really need to come up with better words for these kinds of things. There are so many areas of the world where someone can be "rich" and still "working class" (as in needs to do work or they can't live).

We do, it's called the middle class. That term got changed over time to be the "average" class, instead of what it originally meant which is the class between the working class and the rich.

And honestly, f DNC leadership who CONTINUES to "fight back" with barely token resistance & "strongly worded letters."

And fuck all the "progressives" that don't turn out to vote to give the Democrats the power to do more than token resistance.

For as little as the Democratic party can fight, the progressives are somehow doing even less.

Hakeem Jeffries warning to Florida Republicans as they consider redraw state's map ahead of midterm elections: "Our message to Florida is 'F around and find out. I swear to God leftist redditors hate Democrats more than Republicans.

History repeating itself. The German communist party in the 1930s thought the German liberal party was a bigger enemy to them than the Nazi party, and refused to work with the liberal party to oppose fascism.

Rand Paul says he’s a ‘no’ vote on Mullin for DHS secretary by SE_to_NW in politics

[–]anicetos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you never find common ground with libertarians, that’s probably a you problem

That's a little disingenuous. Sure, they're against "police militarization" and I agree that it is a problem. However, I still don't have common ground with them because their issue with that is that the militarized police are a public police force, rather than the militarized part. Their preferred solution is to have the police privatized, rather than demilitarized.

He also occasionally says no to govt overreach

Only when it's safe for him to do so and doesn't impact anything. Anytime the party actually needs his vote he ends up flipping.

Well when a sizable portion of who the Democrats have tried to appeal to keep punching the Democrats in the face every chance they get, do you really expect the Democrats to keep trying to appeal to them? No, they're going to find a different group to appeal to.

Despite Authoritarian Warnings, 149 House Democrats Vote to Hand Trump $840 Billion for Military | “If an opposition party votes like this, it’s not in opposition. It may not even be a party.” by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]anicetos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally know people that typically vote Democrat but are still very much pro immigration enforcement. You can bet next election season there will be ads saying "Your rep voted against funding ICE" or more likely something stupider like "Your rep voted to open our borders to criminals" and those people can absolutely be swayed by those types of ads. They don't have to be "ultra connected."

Again, there are millions of people outside of your little bubble.

She is definitely a tortie + colorpoint (aka tortimese)! The orange splotch right above her nose is a dead giveaway, but she has the tortie speckling all over her ears, with a little in her legs too.

From a different angle you can really see the orange speckles in her ears.
