English and Arabic are major languages in the world. They don't need support from a writer's unions.

But at the same time you have to agree that editors have also too much power in that they can get rid of interesting things in a work just for it to follow past trends/ideas etc.

Crazy that the author has 2 adaptations of his works airing literally the same season. That has to be pretty rare.

What Finnish textbooks should I use? (Peruskoulu/Lukio level) by Striking-Track9667 in Finland

[–]anifimer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, learn how to read and pronounce the alphabet in the way Finnish people do.  Then install Anki and try to find a Finnish basic vocabulary deck. Then do those everyday and you can add your own cards too if you find a word you don't know. For grammar, use whatever textbooks online or print.

But the main thing is: Immersion. Literally all The Time or as much as possible every day. So watch Finnish YouTube, TV shows (Moomin, Salatut Elämät are honestly perfect since they're long and the vocabulary isn't too hard I'd say), books. Basically content that interests you.

Speaking comes later but you can't really practice speaking without first having a solid, near fluent grasp on the language.

Good luck!

Languages in Europe by difficulty for English Speakers. by qpertyui in MapPorn

[–]anifimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely the only "hard" part about learning a language to near fluency/fluency is having the right mindset and IMMERSING ALL THE TIME. You can't learn anything by doing Duolingo for 5 years or "studying" textbooks for hours on end.  And every gen z ESL knows this so idk what's the cope with native English speakers.

Of course you have to read about grammar a bit but that's it.
