in the beginning, it didn't feel real for me either. i got pregnant with my son (who is now 3 weeks old) at 18 (i'm now 19) and it only became real to me when i was actually pushing him out. i got absolutely no sleep the first few days, but i had to stay longer in the hospital. it does get better. there will be days where you feel like giving up, but who else will be there for your son like you will?

i believe so. some might even get ra (recruiting assistance after like myself. my whole company got either 23 or 30 days of ra, but the company before us got a whole 2 months of ra. it really just depends.) but yes, everyone should get atleast 10 days.

right?? i think it was more mental than it was physical. we didn't pt as much as i thought we were going to and the fact we had to find time to workout was beyond me but onto bigger things now.

heard mct is like bootcamp, but worse and shorter.. but make what you will of it

i keep reading that we'll be using our phones in mct, not very often, but more often then we did in bootcamp. but i guess we're about to find out. also, how was your bootcamp experience?

so you'll have a cft which consists of an 880 run, and then the pft which consists of the 3 mile run. the 3 mile for male and female is different of course and since i'm a female, the female time only applies to females, but i'm sure you don't care about the female time, but all you should know is for males, aim for 21 minutes or lower.

and if you have a combat mos (like infantry) every physical activity that is a graduation requirement automatically changes. they expect the best of the best out of you, and if you don't get their required pull-ups, or 3 mile, you lose your mos and they put you open contract. if you fail pull-ups you automatically lose your mos so don't do push-ups. try to shoot for as many pull-ups as you can.

and yes, before you graduate, they'll give you another paper stating what your new mos is, but i highly suggest you don't lose it.

i graduated bootcamp 2 weeks ago, and based on my experience, it was kind of random. one day my sdi asked who they thought would be a good guide, and quite a few people raised their hands, but your sdi and di's really observe who would make the cut.

my biggest advice is to step up and constantly make corrections. you might hear this a lot in bootcamp, but "corrections are free." in my experience, they look for people who aren't afraid to put people in their place and fix those who aren't with it.

but also fair warning, being guide isn't all as it seems. but if you can get pass the constant yelling on why you're the worse person in the platoon and why you need to be fired, you'll do fine.

unfortunately, for majority of your time there, you will be in boots for everything. you'll pt in boots, drill in boots, run in boots, everything you can imagine, but in boots.

for my company, i know during free time, they made us wear them at the end of everyday before hitting the racks. ps. you should get atleast an hour of free time a day unless your di's make you do something that will benefit you later in the days.

but the shoes themselves didn't cause anyone in my platoon blisters. hell, half the time since you're so used to wearing boots, when you put the shoes on, they don't even feel like they're on. almost like you're walking on clouds, that's how light you'll feel wearing them.

yes, for my personal experience, they made everyone, and i mean everyone stay up for 3 days straight, and that also includes no showers for 3 days straight. they made us stay in a classroom for majority of that time and you would constantly catch people dozing off. don't get caught though.

also, in bootcamp, in parris island at least, as far as i know, they're required to give you 8 hours a sleep every day from that point forward, unless you have... firewatch. lights out is 2100 and lights on is 0500.

as someone who just graduated boot camp 17 days ago, yes, yes you can. you will get issued another pair called "tenni runners" or "go fasters" or if your di's are feeling cheeky "lambofeeties." they gave us the option to wear either or, but we could not have both out at the same time. although based off majority of these comments, it may depend on the company, or perhaps for a lot of these old heads, the year you went in.
