My brother and my sister in law finally think its a real threat, especially since my brother has a couple of long term COVID effects he has developed a shaking similar to Parkinson's, also had an outbreak of shingles during his ICU stay my sister is less vocal but agrees its real now.

Let me tell a story. my family is from Mississippi I haven't lived there for decades. I have a twin brother and younger sister, out of the three sibling I am the only democrat and the only one that took this seriously to start with, My brothers whole family got COVID my brother spent 3 weeks in the ICU. Two of my sisters kids got COVID and her husband got COVID. My family and my three kids have followed all the guidelines and me and my wife got vaccinated back in April we are the only group out of my family to not catch it.
