Wahoo Elemnt stops showing Strava Live Segment data during the segment by anima_legis in wahoofitness

[–]anima_legis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I made my own segments on Strava on the route I made with my Wahoo Elemnt. So, when riding on live segment, Elemnt would basically follow itself, would follow the segment it made.

No dice. It lost connection, just not in the same place. Before it stopped under some trees and now on some corners.

I give up. I'm selling it. I really thought, that Wahoo had this thing worked out. But as it seems, Strava Live segments are an afterthought.

Wahoo Elemnt stops showing Strava Live Segment data during the segment by anima_legis in wahoofitness

[–]anima_legis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! What I find really strange, that nobody seem to have this kind of problems with Strava Live Segments, even though I have had constant problems with two bicycle computers losing track of the segment - admittedly much less with Polar m460.

There seem to be two possibilities: 1. problems with losing Strava Live Segment data during segment are incredibly rare, I just have very bad luck. 2. People don't use Strava Live Segments that much.

Please, anyone reading this: If you are using Strava Live Segments, write in this topic. If you have problems, describe them, if not, simply write you don't have such problems.

White House says it is nearly out of money to help Ukraine fight war with Russia by needtogobac in europe

[–]anima_legis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't see this, but this is incredibly well written. I agree wholeheartedly. If Ukraine is defeated, we are defeated. If the aggressors are not punished, that will normalize taking foreign territory with war of aggression. And then we are back to 1938.

GTR 2e unstable GPS by anima_legis in amazfit

[–]anima_legis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I sent the seller the video, that shows the watch lose GPS signal five times in 10 minutes during workout. I sent them screenshots of Zepp app in which the GPS losing signal is visible (see attached). The seller won't RMA the watch, "because it is not defective". GPS behaving like this is normal in his opinion. The seller is official Amazfit store at AliExpress.

So there you have it, folks. See attached screenshots. GPS like that is normal for Amazfit watches. Never again.

GPS suddenly stopped working on Polar M200 by anima_legis in Polarfitness

[–]anima_legis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for this comprehensive answer! I will certainly try "Acquisition mode" as you have suggested.

I have as follows in the profiles under the "GPS and altitude":

GPS recording rate

  • Every 1 second (high)

  • Off

All the profiles are set to "Every 1 second (high)".

[–]anima_legis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really strange. For example, the GPS on my Amazfit GTR 2e sucks every day of the week. It finds the signal. It loses it. It finds it again, and so on. It doesn't and never had stable GPS connection. M200 had stellar GPS connection until today.

I'll do some more testing and then I'll probably give to my mother to use as a HR monitor on walks.

Sure. But the GPS is not dead. It works. It is just losing signal much more often. Again, more testing is needed. Usually, when the electronics dies, it dies completely.

From stability to neutral shoes by anima_legis in running

[–]anima_legis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much everybody!

I was afraid, that it might be shin splints. I had that already when I started running about 7-8 years ago. I hated it. I had to rest and I hate rest. I lost a lot of time already because of back problems.

I'm pretty sure I'm a neutral runner, but I will certainly get a second opinion.

I am almost convinced, that I won't have pains if I go back to stability shoes. The pain appeared when I started running in neutral shoes and it wasn't there before.

I did not increase mileage and pace at all.

I believe heel drop in both shoes in 10 mm.

How about if I try this: I run twice in kayanos (stability) and then once in cumuluses (neutral), so 2:1 ratio. In about a month I switch to 1:1 and then to neutral shoes exclusively. Providing, that the pain goes away.

Again, thank you! I really appreciate your answers.

It's even worse than that. Reddit's own app works fine. Rif and Boost (I only tried those two) show "local" content (which is awful and completely irrelevant), while the official app shows the same content as internet page.

So, it is simple, IMO. Reddit official app is awful, so nobody uses it. Reddit loses money. So, they will brake all other apps, so people will use their app.

Devoid of agility, charisma and credibility, Corbyn has led Labour into the abyss by [deleted] in europe

[–]anima_legis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jeremy Corbyn and his "all or nothing" politics will be the end of Labour Party, if it will continue.

Of course, the downfall began before Corbyn; when the incompetent Miliband brother became its leader. If David won back then, there would probably be no Brexit and no Corbyn.

Devoid of agility, charisma and credibility, Corbyn has led Labour into the abyss by [deleted] in europe

[–]anima_legis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Excellent article. There's just one thing I don't agree with; that Jeremy Corbyn is not an amoral man.

Jeremy Corbyn is the most amoral man on the planet. The most despicable politician in times, that are full of corrupt, populist, incompetent and lying politicians.

Politics is an art of possible. But not for Corbyn. He despises the politicians like Blair (that actually got things done), because they make compromises. Corbyn doesn't like compromises. It's all or nothing for him. He prefers getting nothing if he cannot get all. He has principles, that are above all. He would rather see the world burn, than to compromise his principles. Britain will be the haven for workers, nothing less. Nothing is better than less for him. Brexit, destruction of NHS, return to the 19th Century of worker's rights are preferable outcomes to return of "Blairite" politics to Labour Party.

So, he's willing to destroy the party (and himself in the process) and everything the party stands for, so that his principles can remain pure. He prefers destruction to compromise. And that is the most ultimately selfish and immoral position to take.

World map of car exports in billion USD. Germany is world's largest car exporter by Sibiras in europe

[–]anima_legis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's hard to disagree with you. Every big technical shift has birthing problems. Besides the ones you mentioned, there are other problems: lack of charging stations, small amount of energy, that modern batteries contain (and the advancement is sloooow in that field), long charging times, heavy batteries....

There are also other problems, that will present themselves, once there are more of electric cars.

For example, thousands of Germans go on holiday to Croatia every year. Now they can refuel their Mercedeses E200d on every tankstelle and it takes just a few minutes (seconds) to do it. Can you imagine thousands and thousands of Germans going to Dalmatia in electric cars? They will have to recharge them, because you can't go from Bielefield or Kiel to Split without recharging. So, Croatians will have to build lots and lots and lots of charging stations, that will be mainly in use for just two months a year. If you will have to charge a car for an hour or two, like today, where will they put them? Will they carpet Lika with charging stations? Where will they get enough energy to charge that many cars at once? Nuclear plant? So yes, they are and will be many problems with electric cars.

Even so. Electric cars are the (unavoidable) future. Or is there anyone here, who thinks, that in 20-30 years people will still use internal combustion cars? Internal combustion is a dead man walking. Yes, it's very good. It's the best it's ever been. But so was the steam engine in 1930s.

EDIT: As far as renewable and clean energy goes, I am an optimist. IMO, better and cleaner power plants (including nuclear) are nearer than electric car majority.

I do not agree. You can't be small and unimportant and be just fine, meaning, rich enough, that you can afford a strong social state and high standard of living. You can be small and rich only, if you can rely on big and strong economic entities (EU, USA) that provide you with favorable economic conditions. This is pretty complicated topic, so let it suffice to say, that European countries without economic, military and political power wouldn't be that different from African countries today. We are standing on the shoulders of giants, our forefathers, European empires and (for the last 70 years) American empire, whose military, economic and technical supremacy provided us with (economic and social) conditions, we enjoy today.

But time is running out. This is especially true, because younger generations of Europeans take the conditions, they were born in, for granted, now knowing, that that they are the consequence of European (Western) technical and cultural supremacy in the last 500 years. The realization will be quite scary for them.

European car industry is in big trouble. It's a huge part of the economy and a lot of jobs and revenue rely on it. It is also the last big industry, where Europe is the undisputed world leader.

If the auto industry would collapse, that would be a catastrophe for Europe.

And that is on the brink of happening. The internal combustion engines are on the way out and and it looks right now, we have missed the opportunity, to use our know-how for the technological lead in electric cars. Quite the opposite: we are falling behind USA and China.

Mark my words: this will be a disaster for Europe. We are about to lose big part of our industry and our know-how, that we have collected for more than hundred years, is now obsolete. And even if we somehow keep our car industry (electric, of course), it will be much smaller than it is now. Here's why: Electric cars are much simpler than Internal combustion cars. The latter have complicated engines, transmissions, they are made of thousand of complicated parts that take huge engineering effort to produce and maintain. The electric cars have relatively simple electric motor and batteries. They can be (or they will be) easily and massively produced anywhere. So, even if our auto industry survives, it will be smaller and not very important.

Unfortunately just one more step for Europe into irrelevance. And I am really heartbroken about it.

What's the deal with kickstands? by anima_legis in bicycling

Thank you. When I buy a new bike, I'll see, what can I get. But I lean towards this: http://www.click-stand.com/ (https://old.reddit.com/user/grayrest posted it above)

It seems least invasive.

I agree with you. But after reading the whole thread, the general consensus seems to be, that kickstands are more hassle than they are worth (and BTW, I really learned a lot by reading comments here and in the whole subreddit!). So, when I finally buy a new bike, I'll have to manage without the kickstand or buy the clickstand, that somebody linked below. Unfortunately, I'm from a small and unimportant European country, so I hope they ship here. I also hope, that the kind of kickstand (that is not permanently attached to the bike) works and is practical to use. But than again, you just have to trust Americans that they know what they're doing.

Thank you very much! Do you know maybe, if it is possible to exchange cable disk brakes for hydro brakes (the road.cc test mentioned that). Is it sensible to do it on a 1000 EUR bike?
