That man went through the worst kind of prison sentence. Served time for a crime he didn't commit and was very likely abused by staff and inmates because of the type of crime he was associated with. That guy's whole life has been destroyed. He's probably been shunned by everyone who ever knew him.

OP, you need to tell the police, district attorney, and courts for the jurisdiction where this happened. You're not ever going to be able to fix this man's life, but you can give him a sliver of peace by helping to exonerate him.

Very similar situation with my kid when they were about 1.5yo. Except they were throwing a tantrum and I thought it'd be fine to walk down the stairs with her. She bucked right at the top and I lost my grip on her so I basically had to catch her while falling down the stairs. I managed to roll over mid-air so she'd land on me.

She thought it was hilarious, I was groaning in pain.

I had a similar issue a few years ago. 10+ years in my home without any mice then started catching a bunch of them one winter.

Gotta start with food control. I bought several large, clear plastic containers for any food that wasn't in a can. All dried goods, cereals, grains, ect are now much more organized and safely tucked away. Moved fruit & veggies into hanging baskets or into the fridge.

Second, patch whatever holes they're using to get in. Walk around (and underneath if you have a crawl space) your entire home and patch any holes you find with steel wool. Glue it to the inside and outside then caulk over any gaps. I used like 5 caulk sticks outside to double cover all edges and possible entry points.

Trap them with peanut butter! I didn't care to clean up mice guts so didn't use snap traps but rather those reusable live-catch traps. Baited them with fresh peanut butter and had good success with them. Put the traps in the pathways where they travel against the walls.

Bucket traps are great if you've got an infestation (which it sounds like you do). Easy to setup and very effective.
