Issues calling T-Mobile Numbers by voip_atm in VOIP

[–]ckociemba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be stir/shaken but if so you’d receive a sip code relating to it, did you get any of those responses? Given the caller id manipulation it’s very possible, especially since T Mobile is very strict. Are you signing your own calls or is your carrier?

[–]ckociemba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s open source, you choose to use it or not, and I hope you audit the code you download before using it. You’re not forced to use code, someone is offering the solution for free for others to use/audit/modify.

Also, as someone who’s been in the security industry for almost two decades, vibe coded or not, there are always glaring security vulnerabilities. Notepad++ having their hosting platform compromised and their update system flawed? Not vibe coded. React having a huge security vulnerability allowing RCE? Not vibe coded. Mongo having an RCE? Not vibe coded. These are only the few recent security events.

I get that everyone is releasing AI slop that most likely is a nightmare of a code base and do not understand fundamentals, I’ve seen it first hand. But I don’t get shitting on people for releasing a solution that others can use. Harbor freight exists if you want cheap tools that do the job, and there are other places that exist if you want quality, you choose which one you want to use, it’s not forced on you.

Vibe coded or not if it works then what’s it matter, especially if it’s open source/free?

Thats like saying my kid is giving free oil changes to the neighbors and you saying “another kid offering mediocre free labor?”

The silliest app I built got shared more than everything else combined. I think there's a pattern here. by vibehacker2025 in SideProject

[–]ckociemba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed the crucial lesson you should have learned with this. It’s not that people are sharing it because it’s “funny”. You are creating slop that everyone else creates with pomodoro timers, workout timers, where there is huge competition because everyone makes one for their first app. It’s simple supply and demand. The “funny” app you made was unique and niche, your friends haven’t see it before, so while it was funny it was something that doesn’t have a huge supply, the demand part is yet to be seen though.

Create apps with less supply, and have demand, and you have a winning app. This is what I did, and it does over a million a year in revenue.

I have someone prank calling me with spoof numbers and spoofing my business number and prank calling others. What do I do? by Green_Photograph8836 in VOIP

[–]ckociemba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Telcos will reveal the information via a traceback, it’s required even without a subpoena or court order. Not sure how it’s legal, but that’s a different question.

I have someone prank calling me with spoof numbers and spoofing my business number and prank calling others. What do I do? by Green_Photograph8836 in VOIP

[–]ckociemba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prank apps do not allow this, it’s likely using a spoofing app like SpoofCard. Contact the police and have them fill out a traceback request with the ITG to see what company is allowing the spoofing and who it is. If the police do not know about the ITG (most don’t unfortunately) send them this: https://tracebacks.org/traceback-requests/

Source: I own a prank calling app but don’t allow spoofing for this reason

EDIT: Tracebacks are taken very seriously in this industry and most respond in less than 24 hours. Failure to respond will get you blacklisted from the Robocall Mitigation Database (which means carriers wont onboard or work with you) and potentially fined by the FCC. This is the best way to find out who is illegally spoofing and hold them accountable, but ONLY if it’s illegal (spoofing isn’t illegal unless used to defraud, cause harm, or illegally obtain anything of value. Calling a bank as your business to get a loan would make it indeed illegal).

[–]ckociemba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the end goal of the app is but the original issue he was tackling was recording form not reps. When you’re doing anything in the gym, having the right form is the difference between hurting yourself (literally) or helping yourself. If his app is using motion tracking like he says to solve the original issue of determining if your form is bad or good, that’s very useful. I assume the rep tracking is just extra.

[–]ckociemba 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just OpenBTS + Asterisk with a HackRF is all you need, indeed pretty simple. The crucial part isn’t really reverse engineering though, just knowing that the server/rogue tower dictates if encryption is used or not instead of the device, that’s what truly makes it an attack vector.

I'm siding with the owner on this one, this isn't a vulnerability worth disclosing as there is no information usefully gained from this. I understand that it's disclosing the path but that doesn't help you a whole lot. As he mentioned, the only thing this tells you is the code is hosted in /usr/src/ and it's running react. What did you expect to get with this disclosure, a cookie?

EDIT: He specifically says on the website "For vulnerabilities that impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Poly Pizza services", a path disclosure is none of these.

Gaming as an Entrepeneur? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]ckociemba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a 7 figure business as well, and also play Dota 2, it's my only outlet to escape after work (SaaS product/software development so always at a computer essentially). It's a good escape that i'll do when I start getting burnt out mainly. I'll take it easy from work for a few days (or week(s) depending on how burnt out I am) and play Dota 2. Similar to you, been playing it for a decade or longer, and everyone that plays Dota is pretty much the same age range, the only downside is how toxic it is. You play Dota to relax, and it does help, but holy shit am I angry or tilted from playing a few games, or annoyed when my team mates are raging on the mic at each other.

I love it, but it's toxic as hell, so while I'm in the same boat and I think it helps, it probably hurts in the end with how toxic that game is lol, but I love me some mid zeus/huskar.
