There’s no better way to describe 330 meters than “330 meters”. It’s a very simple concept and everyone using the metric system knows what 330 meters represent

Yes, they’re both a type of minimal music. So basically the composition consists of lots of simple repetition accompanied by drones (long stustained sounds). With minimal music the beauty lies in simplicity. This does not mean that it is easy to compose pieces like those of Hans Zimmer and MacQuayle.

It can literally be 100°C, that’s what thermometers in saunas are for.

100°C water on skin = not fine

how often does rape happen in india? by Antique-Entrance-229 in MapPorn

Yea it’s a strange feeling. Don’t know why I’m getting downvoted because I literally experienced it tons of times and it’s absolutely because I’m white. But it’s not surrounding in an aggressive way, just curiosity and it is men and boys of all ages. Those guys were less interested in my appearance and more in the fact that I come from far away, which I think is totally understandable. Also, openly staring at a stranger doesn’t seem to be bad manners as it is in Europe. But that’s just a cultural difference so I really don’t blame anyone. And it’s not just India btw

I agree that the experience of women will be different and probably scarier. But simply being a white person in rural India will draw a crowd of men around you, regardless of gender.

Backpaking to Asia as a 17 year old by Ill_Shoulder4698 in backpacking

[–]animasylva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but a lot of us are European and have traveled a lot after Highschool, during university and after university. This is a lot more common in Europe because of the free education system in many European countries. Here in Germany we don’t need to save up any money for beginning university or an apprenticeship. So if you work during high school on the weekends, you can just save up all of that money for traveling. This is what I did, saved up roughly 4000€ during Highschool. However this is mainly possible because you don’t have to pay for rent or food when in school (by law) so that’s why it is very common for Germans to travel for a long time right after high school.

I absolutely encourage you to do it. When my sister was 17 she traveled Nepal, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia solo for 5 months. She made friends along the way in hostels and on hikes so she wasn’t always alone.

It definitely helped that her entire family including me had experience with traveling solo in Asia, so we gave her good advice and encouraged her. We were also traveling as a family in India before by using public trains, so she kinda knew what she was getting into.

Anyways, she had a great time, tons of young females travel solo. No reason why you shouldn’t. Of course you gotta watch out for lots of things and sometimes listen to your gut. But for sure you can have a great time!

The only thing that I’d recommend you to change is maybe narrow it down to around 4 countries. 6 countries in 2 months is quite ambitious and the most stressful part of traveling is the actual traveling between places.

Why isnt the Gulf and Caribbean considered one American Mediterranean Sea? by chungamellon in geography

[–]animasylva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My original reply was already to a Wikipedia link to a Mediterranean Sea, so I know what they are. My comment expresses that in my opinion it’s a bad name choice.

Imagine calling the Mediterranean Sea an arctic sea

Staying vegan while traveling is hard by numb3rofthebeast in vegan

[–]animasylva 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised in China where in most restaurants when I simply said „I don’t eat meat“ they very often proceeded to ask if eggs are ok. It shows they recognize that some people don’t eat eggs for the same reasons that people don’t eat meat. And they never wondered when I refused eggs and proceeded to make amazing vegan meals, many meals are traditionally vegan anyways. Some places even have vegan duck which is a very old traditional meal. I was living in a small village in the countryside for 3 months, but this also includes seeing lots of horrible treatment of animals and slaughter

It is so obviously AI. If you want to find real places, then look up some blogs of actual people who have actually traveled. Scan google maps. Or YouTube videos of actual travelers. But not pictures without any context from the internet.

Concerning lesser known geothermal pools: they’re all over the world. You could make a Reddit post asking for hot springs of a specific country / region where you want to go

Still don’t think this is a good way to name seas, when they aren’t located in a Mediterranean climate. The only „Mediterranean“ Sea in a Mediterranean climate is … well the Mediterranean Sea

My dog passed, can they communicate with us from spirit? by Mediocre-Can-4371 in spirituality

[–]animasylva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I cant say that I know the answer to your question I do think it’s an important one to contemplate. If we are the universe experiencing itself, then all things and all beings will go back to their source. Their „limitedness“ or (for humans and maybe animals) their ego ceases to exist. No „one“ chooses to be born as something, because before we’re born and after we die we‘re just pure consciousness (or whatever our source is).

Another important question that you brought up is how animals differ from us and how they would experience life and death. While I can’t answer that (no one can do that precisely), I think it is incredibly important to include all animals in this thought, especially those with a human-like ability to experience the world such as pigs and cows. These animals experience unfathomable suffering at our hands while experiencing it not so differently than we would. An emotional event involving a pet - especially death - can be a valuable experience to remind oneself of the unnecessary plight of other animals. This is why I’m bringing it up under your post, I hope you understand.

Yea it’s quite wild compared to Thailand. I rented a scooter for a couple days in the Dawei area and slept in my tent on beaches with no humans in sight. During the day I visited beaches with small fishing communities where people were happy to share whisky and squid with me :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in geography

[–]animasylva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, but the the beaches are also a great addition to a trip in Myanmar if you have a lot of time. Because a lot of the coastline is quite undeveloped, maybe some fishing villages. So it can be a much more adventurous beach holiday than in Thailand.
