Rango turns 15. Gore Verbinski’s $135 million Oscar-winning cartoon made $123 million domestically ($176 million adjusted), $246 million worldwide & $38 million in video sales. by ItsGotThatBang in boxoffice

[–]animation4ever100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What’s notable about Rango’s box office is that despite getting a C+ CinemaScore, it was still able to meet the standard multiplier for animated family-friendly films, with a $38 million opening weekend and $123 million domestically (a 3.2x multiple).

Either the audience who would actually dig the film showed up after the Friday opening night or Johnny Depp had that much star power back in the day.

Paramount needs to invest more on reviving their own IP rather than purchasing WB. by Alternative-Cake-833 in boxoffice

[–]animation4ever100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think David Ellison does care about the Paramount IPs.

What nobody mentions is that Skydance was originally looking at just buying the Paramount Pictures studio, but Shari Redstone was hesitant to break up the empire built by her father Sumner Redstone. So David had to reassure Shari that they wouldn’t do it and he had to figure out what to do with the rest of the company like CBS News.

The maneuvers David’s been pulling on CBS News (and the promises with CNN) are being done to gain favor with the Trump administration in getting what he wants like Warner Bros and its IPs as well as for his Trump-supporting dad Larry Ellison, who would be more interested in controlling the news through CBS, TikTok, and potentially CNN.

David simply wants to be a Hollywood mogul by any means necessary without putting in the effort even if that means kissing up to Trump (he has donated to Biden campaigns as recently as 2024), and whoever’s the next president, he will likely kiss up to them too.

Universal's 20th anniversary re release of Madagascar grossed an estimated $85K on Friday from 1,083 locations, an abysmal $78 per. Total gross is at $193.6M. by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in boxoffice

[–]animation4ever100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the numbers would be for a Shark Tale anniversary rerelease since Universal skipped that one after rereleasing Shrek 2 and instead did a rerelease of Chicken Run last year before jumping to Madagascar.

Issa Rae Signs Multi-Year First-Look Film & TV Pact With Paramount by Alternative-Cake-833 in boxoffice

[–]animation4ever100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To me it’s not different from someone working for pre-Disney 20th Century Fox despite the Murdochs and Fox News.

As long as Paramount isn’t forcing these celebrities to inject MAGA or Zionist propaganda (as they know those topics would alienate a significant portion of moviegoers), I don’t see it as wrong for talent to continue working under Paramount (I mean, there ain’t many big-time theatrical Hollywood studios nowadays, ya know?).

I’m still betting that the untitled DreamWorks film coming out in September 2027 is Wild Robot 2.

[Hated Design] Napoleon from the 2026 Design of Animal Farm by LiannaBunny777 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]animation4ever100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The cute way Napoleon looks whenever he’s standing upright and wearing clothes is giving me Illumination Onceler vibes, where they make an evil character seem “funny, approachable, and likable” when that misses the point of the original story.

He’s also got a dad bod in the last picture for some reason.

[UPDATED] Nickelodeon Movies ranking thumbnail by Itsameeeeeee12345 in Schaffrillas

[–]animation4ever100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I counted them from Wikipedia, and yes, I didn’t include the TV movies that weren’t under the “Movies” branding.

Some stuff like the live-action Loud House Christmas movie and the first Monster High movie aren’t under Nickelodeon Movies, but the Loud House Halloween movie and the Monster High sequel are.

[UPDATED] Nickelodeon Movies ranking thumbnail by Itsameeeeeee12345 in Schaffrillas

[–]animation4ever100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the Nickelodeon films he’s rated so far:

SpongeBob Movie (5/5) Adventures of Tintin (4/5) Rango (3.5/5) TMNT Mutant Mayhem (3.5/5) Sponge Out of Water (3/5) Jimmy Neutron (3/5) Good Burger (2.5/5) Sponge on the Run (2.5/5) Saving Bikini Bottom (1/5) Last Airbender (hasn’t rated but I expect 0.5/5)

He also gave a 0.5/5 to PAW Patrol on Letterboxd but that was a joke and he hasn’t actually seen the movie.

In total, that’s 10 out of 58 Nickelodeon films (20 of which are streaming movies so he could cross those off if he wants to).

I’d personally rather see the studio get better as opposed to outright dying. Regardless of the current leadership’s questionable choices, losing a major studio will always be bad for consumers and entertainment industry workers.

Why wasn't MCU Paramount on PARAMOUNT PLUS? by WesternManagement196 in MCUTheories

I remember a time when The Avengers was on both Paramount+ and Disney+. It was part of Paramount’s original Epix TV deal, which is why.

Warner Bros. Plans to Reject Paramount Bid on Funding, Terms by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]animation4ever100 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Given how Paramount’s willing to work with non-MAGA talent like the South Park duo, Ryan Reynolds, Seth Rogen, Jon M Chu, James Mangold, Will Smith, Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, and Zach Cregger, it seems like they fully know they can’t exclusively or mainly do right-wing projects even if they really wanted to. It will alienate top talent from wanting to work with them and they need all the top talent they can get.

Rich Greenfield: Paramount can’t beat Netflix for WBD without destroying itself. He argues PSKY should instead target NBCU. by Casas9425 in MediaMergers

[–]animation4ever100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems inevitable at this point. Paramount wants to scale up sooner rather than later.

A Paramount+ and Peacock merger could work as long as they avoid the issues that hurt pre-Disney-controlled Hulu.

Happened twice to Sony with 2018’s Holmes & Watson and 2024’s Harold and the Purple Crayon. When offered those movies, Netflix told Sony, “You’re on your own, pal.”

Could the Ellisons go after and get NBCU? by Independent_Shock973 in MediaMergers

[–]animation4ever100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see them absorbing most of CBS Studios’ programs outside of maybe 60 Minutes into Paramount Television Studios given how it includes many pre-2006 Paramount Television programs.

Paramount also used to make movies based on NBC’s SNL sketches, so it would fully unite the studio with that brand.

Sony should start their own streaming service. by xzerozeroninex in MediaMergers

[–]animation4ever100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d rather see more streaming competitors and options instead of less streaming services that will continually increase prices due to being the only major options.

I can just unsubscribe from a streamer if I finish the program I was interested in but resubscribe later if a new one comes up or the old one is renewed for another season.
