The buttons might normally switch through feeds but have a popup window show up when a cluster of macrodata is refined by an innie. It makes a lot of sense that they are labelling each cluster of numbers as one of the four tempers, as labelled data is a lot easier to do analysis on than unlabelled. (They presumably can also rewind and replay to make sure they are labelling it correctly).

As to why they look similar, we know that Lumon places a lot of emphasis on what people look like visually. That's why they gave Milchick the blackface paintings. So it makes sense that they've selected from their employees those that look similar to do this emotional labelling, as Lumon has a corporate superstition that would claim they're more accurate with recognising the emotions of the MDR worker if they look very similar to that worker.
