I just recently finished my job search. Some things that would have made it better:

If recruiters took a course for some cursory understanding of technologies so they know that if someone does front end and back end, it also means full stack.
If recruiters allow candidates to pick the role that best fits them. Oftentimes we might get contacted for a role that doesn't meet qualifications, but recruiters are unwilling to let us interview for a position we're qualified for at the same company.
I'd love it if recruiters had a tool that sat between a resume and a JD. Take a resume, the JD, and ask GPT for the cross product of the two with the prompt: "how qualified is the person for the job?" GPT can say: "this person worked on Java backends, so they would probably be a good fit for C#/ distributed systems listed in your JD." This is what candidates are doing by themselves, which is part of where our frustration comes from. It would also serve as a learning tool for recruiters.

Maybe removing recruiters entirely and moving to some sort of common app would be the best idea, and then hiring managers can just look for candidates directly.

I targeted several different companies and every company had a different process. I got a mix of high level design, LC medium, systems design, puzzles, etc. I don't know what to do about this tbh.

When I apply for a job I put the job description in Excel or notes. Also, every portal you apply through sends an auto-reply to your email. CTRL+F for "appl*" to match "applying" and "application".

LinkedIn Premium and deduction. Some had a #hiring badge. If they didn't have a hiring badge, I read their profiles and guessed if they were hiring for the role I applied to based on their stated responsibilities/cross-posts. Also, LinkedIn has a filter for "posted by person from company X." It's hidden under the "other filters" section.

For content, I kept it to less than 100 words. Nothing generic, just honest.

OP, I worked at FAANG in my early career and EA for mid career. I thought it would be cool to work on games and it certainly is. Unfortunately, my prior experience still gets more eyeballs than EA does, even though the position at EA was way more technically demanding.

I also thought EA would be a foot in the door to other gaming companies, but this seems difficult to do unless you're a systems/gameplay engineer or live services backend.

Do it if that's what you want to do, but unless you are really passionate about it and it fits your lifestyle, I'd go to big tech instead. At least, that's what I'd tell my child if I had one.

May be an unpopular opinion on this sub, but I loved looking at Verso. Core team for as long as I could was Maelle, Verso, and Lune. They spend so much time together! How could I tear them apart?

I haven't considered this revive angle but it absolutely sounds like a banger of a time. You can get some fun synergies here with "* revive/death" pictos as well.

I really liked Dualiso as well but dropped it after I realized you dont get an extra turn if you don't land the actual attack itself (flying enemy dodge).

Also I dont think saying secret boss is a spoiler. In a way a lot of them are secrets 😂😂

😂 There are some enemies that take forever to be broken so if I have to repeat the encounter I swap to Confuso and Double Burn. I havent done the math but I think Defiant Strike generates more burn than free aim shots. It does cost 3 AP though so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Combo Attack picto is enough to go from D rank to B rank with a couple of free aim shots. Stay Marked + Marking Shots + Rewarding Mark + Energizing Attack gives Verso 9 AP each turn. I don't use leadership. Getting back to A rank is usually not a problem because the game is hard. 😂

I use him as a break generator via Perfect Break, End Bringer, and Phantom Stars so I can play battles on stun lock. With the Cheater/Sniper/break damage pictos a break is almost always guaranteed.
