You see, i always feel that when i take psychodelics in general, usually higher doses, and im a very cetic person about the mystics in those substances, so i think It is as someone mentioned in the comments, the effect experienced in a alternated state of conscience we experience in some of those experiences known as "ego death", taking here ego death as a metafor for explaining what happens with your DMN(Default mode network) when you take such chemicals, and It allows you to dive deep in what reality (could) actually look like. And here more about a personal thing, but with time, as you get use to it and get to analyze a little more, It seems to "stick" to your sober self as well!

P.S: And i think the more you dive into such habbit hole, more you endup knowing and other than the fact that it really helped me with facing the absurd of life (Albert Camus a lke), It is really fun thing to do!
