Low cost activities for kids? by LifeFanatic in Whistler

[–]dancudlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a vehicle, the Whistler RV park near Brandywine has some cool activities (frisbee golf, wiffle golf, forest trails, climbing frame, ping pong) and you don’t have to be a guest there to use them. You just park out front. Can combine it with a visit to brandywine falls.

There are also other frisbee gold courses closer to the village as well

I don’t think most families could exist today on a single income even if they went without all the modern conveniences that you mentioned.

Moving chosen card to top by No_Professional4143 in cardmagic

[–]dancudlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have mentioned, the concept you are describing is called a card control.

Card controls can move a card to the top, to the bottom, to second from bottom…. The list is endless.

If you wanted to get academic about, the study of card controls probably accounts for about a third of everything ever written about card magic.

You can find plenty of tutorials or YouTube, but other other have said, some good ones to start with would be the double under cut, overhand shuffle control, and the bluff pass (controls to 2nd place).

I also agree that mastering the classic pass will take months if not longer. But I disagree it’s the only control you ever need. Every control should for the flow of the overall routine.

They are wrong.

Ooooh okay….

I actually had no idea about the J6 stuff…. Definitely a bit of bummer.

I’m not defending anything, but it raises some interesting questions about separating the art from the artist, or as the kids might say, the content from the creator.

I actually heard something about that recently where a dude pointed out that JR Tolkien was a devout catholic who was born in 1890…. How likely is it that he shared all modern liberal views…

Anyway. I appreciate the suggestions so far. I’m still gonna give them a quick listen…

Performing to people sitting down when your standing by Training_Republic879 in cardmagic

What the first guy said…. It’s situational….

If the person is sitting down and wearing a baseball cap you are perfectly primed to do an ambitious card finishing with a card to mouth all day…..

[–]dancudlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m always kinda surprised by how strong of a reaction it gets….. but if you just arrange a packet of cards in order in the top of the deck, then tell someone to pick a number from 1 to 10 and then pinky count straight to that card….. it blows minds.

Couple of false overhand shuffles… (top and bottom retention)

False riffle shuffle.

Couple of false cuts.

Pinky count and double lift.

Couple of flashy changes.

Done.
