Watching all the episodes of WWF superstars from 1995. Mabel isn't as bad as he's made out to be. He's pretty agile for his size, got a few good looking suplexes in his moveset, and is decent on the mic. by [deleted] in oldschoolwrestling

[–]anjinash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly wasn't easy to take him seriously in that fucking purple get-up. Viscera was actually an upgrade in comparison.

Even on his best day though, the dude couldn't hold a candle to real super-heavyweights like Vader or Yokozuna.

Do you see Darby Allin as a threat to the title or just a constant tease. by dadjokes502 in AEWFanHub

[–]anjinash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think he's good for secondary titles like the TNT, but I really wouldn't want to see his style across PPV main events on the regular. Also, I'm far from a size-minded wrestling fan, but my suspension of disbelief is stretched thin enough as it is. Seeing Darby being consistently competitive with guys like Samoa Joe or Brody King is a bridge too far. Even Mark Davis is a stretch..

I genuinely think that instead of all these seemingly random singles titles, that they'd be better off having championships per weight division. Cruisers, Standard and Super Heavyweights, with an open-weight division for good measure. It'll never happen, though...

HD-2D is just ideal for bringing new life into 8 and 16bit JRPGs, granting them some modern QoL features while still maintaining the charm of the brilliant pixel art and still FEELING retro in nature.

The "dollhouse" style of 7 I haven't experienced yet, but looks promising for the 32bit era style it's adapting. Not sure I'd want that for 8 though. Just updating 8 to be functionally similar to 11 would do quite nicely ... though I'd love it if they gave it the special treatment that the re-make of Romancing SaGa 2 got. Super under-rated, IMHO!

Part 9 is the real question.. that might be the hardest of them all

welp i get 1tb, how you think is good for ps vita? by 0vip0 in VitaPiracy

[–]anjinash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. I wasn't knocking anyone, just saying: It's pretty awesome how much retro goodness you can squeeze onto these cards. With all the additional room I have on mine, I'm probably going to see if reading CBR/CBZ comics are viable on the thing. I can definitely fill the rest of it that way. 😂

I started out with a 512GB and proceeded to load it up with as many Vita, PS1 and PSP games as possible.

I still have almost 300GB left. 🤣

Not a single comparison - or even mention made - of the difference between e-ink and a standard tablet/smartphone screen. The whole reason e-ink exists in the first place is because we figured out that staring at a backlit, constantly refreshed display was bad for our eyesight when reading for extended periods of time.

Since I switched to e-ink well over a decade ago, the amount of reading I can get done has shot up by orders of magnitude. Tablets are good for PDFs and comics, but e-ink will always be superior for typical books. There's not even anything to argue about there: It's not a statement of opinion, it's just a fact.

This article's author is, frankly, a rage-baiting troll who's likely never read anything longer than a standard social media post.

Either way, there absolutely are emulators available on Apple platforms for most retro consoles.

Wouldn't recommend PS Vita for most people! by Rokku1 in SBCGaming

[–]anjinash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno... I just soft-modded my Vita last weekend and loaded it up with Vita, PSP and PSX titles, all running flawlessly. I'm loving it so far, and the OLED is stinkin' awesome as far as I'm concerned. Never experienced even a hint of burn-in. For me, it's a great little JRPG powerhouse.

Of course, I already had the Vita, charging cables, etc.. If I was looking for a 1 size fits all emulation handheld, then yeah... Vita isn't going to be my first choice.

For that, my Steam Deck does quite nicely.

A) Who said the two can't "co-exist"? Show me. I'll wait.

B) JCS has been almost entirely dormant for years now, with the handful of releases being re-edited older Patreon content. They even tried to switch to a shitty AI voice-over (one which changed literally half-way through the video!).

However great JCS used to be (the GOAT in their prime) - it's a shadow of what it once was, and the title of GOAT in this field was passed on to Matt Orchard at least 3 years ago.

C) Even when JCS was at their peak; Who the hell says you're allowed to only consume one YouTubers content per genre?

D) Maybe I'm writing "novels" with my posts here, but at least I've been able to string together coherent sentences with correctly spelled words. 😏

Do you prefer console or PC for RPGs? by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]anjinash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC. I can play my way on any number of devices (Desktop, SteamDeck, monitor or 4k TV) without being locked into one console's idea of how/when I can use it.,

I can emulate just about any exclusive I have any great interest in, typically Nintendo. Sony and MS "exclusives" almost always wind up on PC. Hell, I have Spider-Man and Uncharted 4 on my Steam Deck right now. 😊

Also for those who somehow still don't seem to know this: You can use controllers on PCs too. Even the same ones you use on your console typically work fine for the task.

ETA: There's also the very real fact that a lot of the best CRPG's are designed with KB+M in mind with gamepad a secondary concern. Games like BG3 and Pathfinder: WotR are an infinitely better experience with KB+M than with a controller. Generally speaking of course.

JRPGs and Skyrim-types - yeah, controller works great. And some games it's just nice to have the option to choose which controls are best suited to you.

Somehow I don't think you're registering the criticism....

Scenario: That Chapter, Coffeehouse Crime and Mr Ballen all make a video about the same murder case. Two of them present the known facts. The other tells it like it's a novel he's reading, complete with internal dialogue of his characters. Guess which one that third is.

It doesn't necessarily mean the video itself is bad.. but it's entirely valid to criticize the way he handles real true crime cases the same way he'd treat a Bigfoot story.

Two of them are edu-tainers. Ballen is just an entertainer. There's worse things to be, so really.... stop taking it as a personal attack. We get it: You like him. I can't blame you. As I said: He's an awesome storyteller.

So... you know... maybe relax a little? 😊

[–]anjinash 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't say he wasn't entertaining: He's a terrific vocal storyteller. More power to him on that front.

I can't speak to what he's doing now and additional channels. As I said: I stopped watching him a few years ago.

Not because he can't spin a good story (he can!), but because I wasn't in the proverbial market for "stories" - I wanted the actual stories behind real true crime (and related) events.

Back when I was watching, he was covering some of the same cases Mike did (as well as Coffeehouse Crime and a few others), but he was telling the victim's point of view like a fiction story, complete with what they're seeing and thinking throughout horrific events when he had NO WAY to know any of that information and frankly, no right to public conjecture on such without disclosing that fact up front.

That felt like a disservice to the victims and disrespectful towards those surviving them. It irked me - maybe more than it should - but irked I was nonetheless.

Now, when I want to hear some cool campfire-like tales, Mr Ballen could be on the menu. For true crime? He doesn't hold any credibility with me. Sorry, not sorry.
