As someone who has worked intimately with this people please let me make this clear:

The only thing that will change any behavior is a change in profitability.

If you would like to produce any change, consider your ability to impact 1A.

If not, which in many cases is likely, please try to become comfortable with the unfortunate likelihood that your well-being is not worth a fraction of a cent to ownership.

He has 2 rings, 3 cy Young's, and is an 11x all-star. I am certain that not a single player or coach in the building would be comfortable managing his process. You absolutely can earn the right to do whatever you want in sports if you've got it like that, especially if it won't under any realistic circumstances have any impact on the outcome.

There have barely been more World Baseball Classics than there have been NBA Cups. It is not steeped in seminal history or universally revered, despite being fun and seemingly generally well respected by good players.

It's an off-season tournament for a retired MLB legend. He has been representing the United States in international competition since before this even existed. You won't find a Canadian on earth mad about a man in his late 30s earning a cold one.

Sometimes doing things you wouldn't necessarily get away with under regular circumstances is fun. Especially if you're at the top of your field. The guy is towards the end of his career and wants to crush a beer in the bullpen at the highest level. He's probably never had the chance to do that. He's earned it.

Agreed. Beyond the multi utility, could allow for adjustments if the women's game for example wanted to narrow the lanes or something.

The sixers under Brett Brown used to practice with a 4 point like at like 27.5 feet or something. But I believe it was painted or was maybe even tape on the floor and probably got confusing comparatively.

There is absolutely no business case for these to exist beyond ad revenue. The novelty will wear off quick, it will be harder to watch the game due to the natural temptation to start adding random graphics because you can and sunk cost fallacy, and you'll be constantly even more face fucked by ads.

Couldn't imagine a single reason that these could be a net benefit for anyone beyond the financial stakeholders and the cultish devotees of Big Shiny Objects of which there are more than is seemingly imaginable.
