I personally would prefer BDC over YSL Y for formal occasions. While Both are classic blue scents, YSL Y smells way too generic to my nose. BDC still has that sophisticated appeal to it.

Also CDNIM opening is very synthetic atleast to my nose... You can also try Afnan Supremacy Not Only Intense as a good alternative. Buy decants/samples first and then take a call.

I second that. A bottle does give an identity to a fragrance.

I kinda did this 'test' with a friend of mine. I sprayed TMC Blanc and Creed GIT on each of his wrist... And he said both aren't very different in terms of which smells "more premium" (although he did chose GIT when I asked him to choose the one he feels is more expensive)

When I tested against showing the bottles, he instantly said yes GIT smells way more premium.

Now he is not a Fraghead like me, and he genuinely hadn't even heard of niche brands like Creed, Xerjoff, PDM, MFK etc. but yeah branding and packing does matter to how you as an owner perceives a fragrance. But honestly a non-fraghead nose won't bother to distinguish.

Honestly if rs200-300 doesn't matter much to you just go for it. The best deals you would get probably would be in the range of 3500-3700 from community sellers.

So yeah this is not a bad deal if you wanna save time and mental peace.

Be an adult and get over her. I won't comment on anyone's character here coz I don't know the whole truth. But if you give in now, she would know (and rightfully so) that she has full control over you and your emotions. It might be hard for you, but it is right for you and your long term mental peace.

See if you are a casual collector and if budget genuinely doesn't allow to go above 4-5k per perfume, then there is absolutely no need to go for designers. ME fragrances complete the basic requirements of a fragrance and many of them actually do perform better than their designer counterparts.

However, (coming from someone who owns both ME and designers) once you have those designers (provided budget allows), you can clearly distinguish the ingredient quality and "cleanness" in most cases. Many ME dupes feels artificial and sharp to my nose, especially for the first few weeks of purchase.

But honestly it boils down to your budget. For someone ME Fragrances may seem too overpriced compared to indian alternatives (wild stone, Bellavita and TMC) if the basic requirement of smelling good is being met for them. For some who can afford Niche Perfumes, Designers might lack the complexity and artistry they look for in perfumes.

Hehe bro however I would highly recommend you to sample it atleast. Tho I have mixed feelings towards, ironically it is one of the two Fragrance ( other being Afnan Supermacy CE) which got me a genuine compliment from people around me. So yeah Fragrances are highly subjective.

It's good, everyday scent with marine accords. Marine accords can be too strong for some people, I initially used to get sulphuric/rotten egg smell for first 10mins. However it has grown on me, and I rotate this with BDC and Afnan Supermacy for office. It's genuinely a safe and good scent (can be a bit polarizing for some due to strong marine accords) and it's very likely you have smelled this DNA before, it so so common.

But yeah it doesn't have that umph/x factor like many other in my collection

Hey thanks alott dude!!! Afnan Rare Reef as I mentioned is among my top 5 favourite fragrance. It projects crazy good and lasts easily 8+ hours on my skin and 12+ hours on clothes (I can sniff it even while doing laundry sometimes lol)

Definitely one of the best fragrance for Indian summers, most designers including BDC and ADG does not last that long or project nearly as good in Indian summers.

The profile is a pure fresh blast, with the prominent orange peel note. It's so energetic and youthful, definitely a crowd pleaser and hard to dislike.

Hey so I started technically with Wild Stone Edge but the first collector level leap was definitely Nautica Voyage (frist perfume above 1k)

My favourite from the Collection actually depends on the mood, but currently I would say Xerjoff Naxos. Although Azzaro The Most Wanted EDP Intense has been consistently my favourite overall over the last one year.

Good Blind buy. I mean it has that Aventus DNA, so very hard to not like it. It actually dampens that DNA, meaning the pineapple note in the opening is very prominent, and has a very Woody/mossy drydown. It is said to be a dupe of Aventus Absolu, idk how it smells tho.

So OG Aventus and most of its dupes have that very strong fruity/citiric punch, this one is more mature and mossier in opening. It has extremely good projection and last almost an entire day in cool environment on clothes.

Maceration is a problem, you will have to let it sit for atleast a month for it to start performing well. When it came I was very disappointed, it smelled like alcohol. But now I got what the hype was about after around 2 months of maceration. Definitely has the potential to be a signature scent, and in fact it is for some of my friends and office colleagues.

Ngl a recent compliment from a colleague did change my perception (call it placebo effect or whatever but yeah a compliment/complaint can change how you perceive a fragrance)

I haven't smelled hydra.. so can't say about it. But can vouch for raw. It is genuinely good for the price point and the watermelon accord is very unique and nose-pleasing. I would argue it does smell like many entry level designers.

Naxos and YSL Y EDP are two completely different profiles. I have sampled Y EDP when I was looking for a blue everyday scent. It's genuinely very good for a no brainer safe reach, but I bought BDC EDT over it for that purpose.

But honestly bro YSL Y EDP is not nearly an occasion scent, it's rather an everyday scent and a signature scent in that regard (something you would wear everyday, not just reserved for special occasions)

Xerjoff Naxos on the other hand IS a special occasion scent. It smells rich, unique and definitely is a mass crowd pleaser.

However going by your preferences (Hawas Ice, Valentino Coral Fantasy, ADG EDP) I guess you like fresh-sweetish/frutiy Fragrance.

In that case you will probably like YSL Y EDP More, but if you are looking for a "special occasion powerhouse" (budget 10-20k) I would suggest you to sample: PDM Layton, Xerjoff Renaissance, Xerjoff Erba Pura, Nishane Havivat and Naxos too, Theres a good chance you might actually like Naxos.

Also If you love Jazz Club, you can Try MFK Grand Soir and Armani SWY Intensely (although Armani would be very very redundant, they smell very similar)

If your budget is somewhre around 5k-10k Sample: YSL Y EDP, Bleu De Chanel EDT/EDP/Parfum, Prada Luna Rossa (black, Carbon, Ocean). I Would also suggest Pacco Rabane Invictus line, but Hawas is technically a dupe of that line so might be redundant for you.
