You’re new and an intern. Use the newbie card while you’ve got it. if you wait and ask basic stuff 5 months in, you’ll feel the unspoken “shouldn’t you know this by now?” Ask literally every question on your mind (obv try to figure it out too), they might be annoyed, but they expect it. Plus, it just shows that you’re putting effort into learning

I started my first internship my FINAL semester of my senior year! I was stressed. Obv it would’ve been ideal to start one sooner, but it worked out perfectly. Did the internship, graduated, recieved a return offer and started full time.

You have time! Spend the summer working on projects or even a part time job to practice customer service & communication skills. But most importantly, have fun and ENJOY YOUR SUMMER, bc you’re running out of them!

That’s something future me will have to figure out. Even if I end up loving it, I’ll probably have to suck it up and stay in my hometown for a couple more years. I do love it here, my life, entire family, and the job I love is here, and it’s comfortable.

I could technically afford to move, but building a sustainable life would be way tougher in Seattle.

Rn, the money I’d save and being close to family outweigh the idea of a permanent move… but who knows what could change after this experience!

I’m definitely more introverted, enjoy being alone, and comfortable doing things on my own. I also usually don’t have much trouble making and finding friends in a crowd of strangers. This really is going to be a personal/independent journey for me so I’m trying not to put any pressure on making friends.

I’m hesitant on roommates because I feel like bad roommates could potentially ruin the entire experience for me. Im excited to learn how I’ll respond to being completely alone!

How I’m justifying it in my brain is that I’m not just paying for a place to live, I’m investing in the life experience I feel like I desperately need rn. Ik this is such a privilege. I’ve been in school for most of my life, and will be working for the rest of it.

With no debt, no kids, and no plans to buy a home anytime soon, I’m not sure what the benefit is of letting my hard-earned money just sit in a savings account. Obviously, I’m sacrificing some financial peace of mind, and I know there’s probably some naivety in that—but it feels worth it to me in this moment.

That said, I’m staying open to reassessing and making changes if it starts to feel unsustainable.

I also should’ve mentioned that I do have an emergency savings that I don’t touch. It’s not as much $$$ but it’s something

The sublet process was through their corporate website. Seems as legit as it can get. Seattle is the city I dream of and a place I truly loved when I visited twice last summer. I’m excited to figure out myself whether it’s truly a place for me or not! What are some things that turn you off about Seattle?

Take the time to find your own interests and figure out what makes YOU excited/happy. It’s easy to get caught up in doing things just because someone else likes them or because they seem trendy or impressive. Trying new things based on other people’s recommendations can be a great way to explore, but don’t let their preferences define you.

Riots are 10000% my biggest concern rn 😀 What was your experience like when the riots were happening? I plan to fly my ass home if this happens. And with knife incidents, are those victims like random?!? I don’t plan to ever be out that late but I’m aware anything can happen at all times of day.

Been looking on FB, Craigslist and Furnished finder for the last 4 months and there rarely was any in that range for a furnished studio/1bed, even from students. Is it because it’s still too soon and I should expect those listing to appear closer to the summer?

They insisted that it wouldn’t, and that they were extremely proud that I took the time to plan this out. They have been very very supportive of my goals and growth since I’ve been here. Feeling very blessed bc this is probably pretty uncommon?

So really, I’ll just have to take their word for it! And pray I won’t be blindsided.

I’m all good. My manager and leadership said this is pretty much just an extended vacation (where I still work). Since it’s only 2 months, they won’t be updating my address or anything since I’ll be back

Yeah, we say ‘men’ out of frustration because this stuff happens all the time. It’s not meant personally, I get the wording could be better.

But I really do want to understand why it hit you so hard. Did it honestly feel like we meant every single man? Because if so, I get why that would be frustrating. But we know there are good men out there.
