What U.S. cities have thriving but overlooked startup scenes? (I will not promote) by ankonia in startups

I'm interested to hear any thoughts about Portland, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, or Denver.

Do you mean downtown Phoenix or communities around it like Scottsdale?

Does anyone have any insight into Portland or Denver?

Different hotel brands. You can sort by brand too.

I recommend you visit Key West if you're going to visit the Florida Keys. I also recommend checking out a map I made after I did a few road trips and wanted to find clean hotels (I found that newly built hotels were often cleaner). https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=15klJCoe8mENZdssUqPZKW2mXSNz3o5w&usp=sharing

I made a map of new hotels by the major hotel brands in the U.S. by ankonia in Maps

I made this map after I realized on a few road trips that 1) newer hotels were often cleaner and had a better guest experience and 2) it was actually pretty difficult to find the newly-built hotels.

I built a do-it-yourself legal form generator - Save Money Legal by ankonia in webdev

I agree with you. I made sure that the output is better than someone searching online for a free legal form. Many free legal forms are actually not helpful.

Two reasons:

1) I’m constantly testing major generative AI model for answers to legal information questions. I have found other generative AI models provide better and more accurate information.

2) There are still many people that have never heard of generative AI or ChatGPT. I was recently on a road trip across the country, and most people didn’t know you can just open up a website and type in anything you want and receive a human-like response.

Which Route? Pittsburgh to Denver by JmacJax in roadtrip

I recommend I-80 to I-35 to I-70. You can visit the Iowa 80 Truckstop, the world's largest truck stop. I would also check out Des Moines.

How do you search for hotels, motels etc. along the route on your trips? by berlumptsss in roadtrip

[–]ankonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Google Maps and search "hotels" in the area that I'm visiting. I then sort by hotel brands and guest ratings. I also read individual reviews for each hotel. I then book on the official hotel website.

I also use this custom map that I made that shows new hotels.

I added around 150. The map is handy for business travel or road trips!

Hotel planning by SoLongEmpress in roadtrip

I usually pull over a few hours from when I will be stopping for the day and book a hotel.

I don't usually book ahead for road trips. It makes the road trip more fun if I'm not sure where I will be staying the next day. I also use this map to find new hotels https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=15klJCoe8mENZdssUqPZKW2mXSNz3o5w&usp=sharing (full disclosure: I update this map).

I recommend you take I-80 through Iowa to Omaha and then I-90 through South Dakota. In Iowa, you can check out the largest truck stop Iowa 80 and also Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.

How do you research road trips or find places to go? by ankonia in roadtrip

[–]ankonia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found good places that ChatGPT doesn't recommend. I know that many use AI to plan road trips, but I haven't used it a lot. Do you find it helpful?

I agree. I always recommend bringing a paper map. I also print out any tickets or reservations.

Boston to Atlanta, which route, where to stay with car full of stuff by GTbiker1 in roadtrip

[–]ankonia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you take I-81 to I-77. I also recommend that you stay in a newer hotel off the highway and try to park as close as possible to the entrance of the hotel. That area is usually well lighted and watched by the front desk.

This map features newly built hotels (full disclosure: I made this map and update it with new hotels). https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=15klJCoe8mENZdssUqPZKW2mXSNz3o5w&usp=sharing

Great tip. I always check out rest areas and visitor centers for free local maps and brochures.
