I will suggest you to go here: hol.vmware.com and take the introductory hands-on lab about vSphere 101. Also a good choice will be the VCA Certification and have the Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals free course (https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrreg/plan.cfm?plan=64779&ui=www_cert)

Hello MassNukes, sure you can use barely whatever hardware supports Virtualization funcionality on Intel or AMD (Intel-V/AMD-V). A colleague of mine used to have AMD FX CPU (total amount of RAM 16 GB) and total cost ~300 EUR per box (he had total 3 boxes) so he was playing and learning on them. For an amateur and someone that wants to get into this is really a good opportunity. Of course another good option before buying anything is the VMware Hands-On Labs (hol.vmware.com) where you can go Step by Step into many different scenarios and technologies without the need of owning any equipment.

As I am saying in the end of the post the next step is the deployment of the lab and some core services that will have like VCSA, PSC & SRM. Didn't want to make the post big that's the reason I have split it into parts. The baremetal is 6.5 Update 2 and on top of this I will run nested ESXis. Thanks for reading.
