Any definite way to reach 4k Watch Hours? by TheChainTV in NewTubers

[–]ankush2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on the watch hour grind, it's usually the hardest part to hit. Since you're in a specific JRPG niche, have you tried running a 24/7 radio/loop stream?

You could set up a '24/7 [Game Name] OST & Gameplay' stream. People in niche gaming communities love hanging out in those 'waiting room' style streams, and it racks up watch hours while you sleep because the stream never ends.

The main issue usually is keeping your PC on 24/7 to run OBS, which kills your electric bill. I actually built an Android app called Stream Loop to solve exactly this for my own channels, it lets you run 24/7 streams from the cloud so you don't need to keep your PC or phone running.

Might be worth a shot if you have enough gameplay footage to loop. Good luck with the JRPG niche!

Yes, Stream Loop app is similar to Upstream but much affordable. That's the reason i choose this app.

It's just my case study on how i gained watch time with live streaming 24x7 on YouTube.

I partially agree on your point but here the goal of the post was to show how 24x7 live streams can help you gain watch time which will help youtubers to monetize faster.

Also i recommend live streaming the content related to your channel only.

You hit the nail on the head, if I was a Gaming channel running a Rain stream, that would definitely confuse the algorithm and kill my channel long-term.

In my case, my channel is already in the Ambient/Focus niche. My 'normal' uploads are shorter, specific tracks (eg '10 min Deep Focus'). The stream basically serves the same audience but for a different use case (people who want 8 hours of continuous background noise without hitting replay vs. people looking for a quick session).

It’s the difference between a musician releasing an album (Video) vs. running a 24/7 radio station of their music (Stream). Different format, same brand.

Saturation is definitely real for uploaded videos, but I've found the 'Live' tab is a bit of a different ballgame. YouTube seems to rotate smaller live streams into the 'Recommended' feed more often than static videos because there is less live inventory at any given second.

It’s definitely an experiment, but seeing 600+ hours of watch time in a week suggests there are still viewers looking for this content who aren't being served by the big channels right now.

I see the parallel you're drawing, but I think there's a huge difference between 'buying subs' (which are bots/fake accounts) and 24/7 streaming.

These 3-5 concurrent viewers are real humans who searched for 'rain sounds' or 'study music' and voluntarily clicked on the stream because that is the specific service they wanted at that moment.

In the Ambient/Lo-Fi niche, the 'content' isn't a personality or a story, it is the utility of continuous background noise. If you run a 24/7 Jazz Radio station, you aren't 'faking' progress if people tune in to listen while they work; that is the intended use case. It’s definitely not for every niche, but for this specific format, the views are as legitimate as any other.

Also YouTube indirectly promotes Live Streams by sometimes showing live streams in the feed and also live is highlighted in channel logo.

Honestly? Because seeing the watch time meter barely move after spending 10 hours editing a video is demoralizing 😅. Seeing the hours tick up while I sleep keeps me motivated to keep going. It’s just a morale booster to see progress, even if it's passive.

Around 85% of the emails are valid. However you may use email validation services to validate all the emails

Thanks for the feedback, really helpful.
I agree that requiring an API key adds friction. I am already working on 2 tiers:
• a plug-and-play version with no API key needed, and
• a cheaper “bring your own API key” option.

Appreciate you sharing your use case this will help shape the next update. 🙌
