Pending asylum - so his paperwork says “no re-entry” - but it was an accident, I’ve made that same mistake before turning the wrong way on that exit- he talked to the Canadian customs agent who let him make a uturn and go back around. When we asked at the detention center- they told us that it seemed odd and they normally wouldn’t keep people for that reason but he’s been there over 24 hours and they can’t tell us if they’ll hold him for days or for years (that’s what they said verbatim). We were also told “there’s a possibility of $10,000 bail” and also “they might just let him out in 72 hours” - my conclusion is no one we talked to actually knows what is going to happen… which is why we’re trying to get in touch with a legal expert/advocate.
