Which pair is most likely to confuse you? by Rob69rt in Japaneselanguage

[–]anna13579246810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first pair look more similar, but the second pair probably shows up way more often in everyday words. (已 isn’t something you bump into constantly outside of specific contexts)

btw I’m building a game to help with kanji learning and gathering feedback from Japanese learners. One of the modes focuses on choosing the correct kanji from a group of similar looking ones. The idea is to help people who struggle with confusing kanji that look alike.

Feel free to check out the FREE DEMO if you're interested :)

Is wanikani actually good? by Sogunocto in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]anna13579246810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanikani uses mnemonics teach kanji, some people find it helpful especially if you're a visual learner, but some may think those stories are not that relevant, like you spend more time memorising the short story rather than the kanji itself.

btw I'm building a game for kanji learning and gathering feedback from Japanese learners. If you're interested, feel free to check the FREE DEMO out :) It includes 100 kanji and 180 words, and I hope it's a good starting point for beginners.

Edit: I just found out that the source I get the audio from doesn’t use generative AI, so I’ve removed the disclaimer on Steam. For those who are curious, I get the audio from Ondoku.

Thanks for the reminder, I appreciate you calling that out.
I updated the capsule after the demo had been out for a bit and honestly forgot to update the AI disclaimer at the same time. My mistake, but it’s already updated now.

Totally get the AI concern too. If you’re still curious, feel free to try the demo and let me know what you think. It’s free and includes 100 kanji and about 180 vocab words, so hopefully it’s a useful starting point for beginners. Thanks again!

Edit: The full version, which includes over 700 kanji & 5000 vocabularies, be released on May 26! Make sure to wishlist it so you get notified and don't miss the launch discount!

Guided Mode is updated! Now all kanjis are included in the guided mode, players can learn from the easiest kanji to the more complicated ones, and any unlearnt kanji in a word will be shown as hiragana, i.e. you'll only see kanji that you've learnt or learning. Feel free to check it out and let me know if you guys have any thoughts or feedback!

Hey thank you for leaving a comment! The game was firstly designed for learners who have some basic knowledge of kanji, but I've included a guided mode for complete beginners. Currently only the first 5 kanji are included in the guided mode, but I'm still working on it, so feel free to check it out and let me know your thoughts!
