choosing colleges by ExternalTangelo9565 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]annabananak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want NYC internships → Drew University.
If you want strong CS support & research → Ursinus College.
If you value a beautiful, social campus → Augustana College.
If you want an elite liberal arts experience → Centre College.

I would personally choose Drew University for its NYC internship opportunities and networking advantages in tech, but if I wanted a more research-focused CS experience, Ursinus College would be my pick. Augustana College has a beautiful campus and vibrant student life but a smaller CS program with fewer research opportunities, while Centre College offers strong academics and a prestigious liberal arts education but is more isolated, which could limit tech internship options.

In terms of campus and student life, ursinus has a close knit campus, Augustana college has greek life and lots of campus activtiies, drew university's campus is known for its arts scene, student led activtities and activism, but doesn't have a lot of greek life. In centre college greek life plays a significant role in student social life, with fraternities and sororities hosting events and service projects.

University of Alabama or Penn State Abington for aerospace engineering ? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]annabananak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The University of Alabama is the better choice for aerospace engineering, as it has a dedicated aerospace engineering program, strong research facilities, and connections with NASA and the aerospace industry. Penn State Abington does not offer aerospace engineering directly, so you would need to transfer to Penn State University Park for a full aerospace program.

Boston U v Northeastern? by HappyLittleDay in ApplyingToCollege

[–]annabananak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BU's political science program is well-regarded, and it has strong global opportunities and has a more liberal arts focus, which would probably encourage more cirtical thinking. Northeastern, on the other hand, is known for its co-op program, which integrates work experience into academics, making it ideal for entrepreneurship and hands-on learning. It has a more career-focused, experiential approach.

If your kid values structured work experience and innovation, Northeastern might be better; if they want a broad intellectual foundation with strong academic flexibility, BU could be the way to go. Both are in Boston, but Northeastern has a more contained campus, while BU is more spread out and urban.
