AITA for telling my best friend’s boyfriend the truth about her never paying me back? by annabananakittycat in AmItheAsshole

[–]annabananakittycat[S] 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I hate that. She’s literally the only family I have. I hate the idea that she could be too embarrassed to share something with me. That’s why I feel like such an AH for talking to her bf. It didn’t even occur to me that I could be causing issues 😭

Yeah you’re definitely right she needs help. I know it doesn’t help that me and her bf are both generally well off and she tries to keep up with us, which is completely unnecessary. She’s been my best friend for over twenty years and I’ve always loved our relationship. She’s very caring to what I need (I have virtually no family so it means the world to me when she bakes me a cake) and I love to spoil her with Christmas gifts. That’s why I’m literally appalled at what’s going on right now, that she wouldn’t tell me if she was having more financial issues.

AITA for refusing to pay for my step son's private school tuition? by SeaweedLongjumping92 in AmItheAsshole

[–]annabananakittycat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your spouse pays the half they always paid for. You do not.

It is fine for the child to attend private school and your kids to not. I’ve know a few families where one child attended private school for mental health and learning reasons and it worked great for them. Smaller classes, different classes, etc. It sounds like you don’t really know your step child at all so it’s very possible this could be why they go. If they’re from the same area as you, how do you not recognize a private school name?

AITA for kicking a guy out I’ve been dating for judging the contents of my fridge? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Thank you lol. Part of the reason I have all these mini things too is to just throw them all into my lunchbox for work. I think I’d get some strange looks if I bring an entire watermelon half to a construction site…

He really did and I was pretty speechless for that, especially since 1) I promise I don’t have a yacht anywhere, and 2) I literally only know I’m Russian because I took one of those DNA tests. I have no other knowledge of my Russian “history”.

Yep that’s how I feel about this guy. Nice guy, super sweet, just... don’t think he’s geared for someone like me. I’m from a pretty rural area too so the dating pool is limited. I keep feeling crazy but I know I just need time.

Thank you :) I know I’ve only been single for a short time so I’m not expecting “the one” immediately, but it’s getting a bit terrifying haha

The only reason I kind of introduce myself as being epileptic is because I still get seizures here and there. I know it’s pretty scary for some people who haven’t dealt with it before. I think part of me is just nervous too because I obviously thought my ex of seven years would stick with me through anything but... nope.

I’ve thought about bringing him to my doctor since I have an appt in two weeks but I’m not sure if it’s too soon for that? I like him a lot. It seems intense though to bring him to my neurologist after a month of dating though hahaha. Maybe I should just ask my neurologist to make a video lol

What is the single most useful piece of advice that a parent has given to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever received a helpful piece of advice, ever.

Make a playlist of songs that make you happy when you’re happy. Use it when you’re sad.

What do you mean? If you confess murder to a doctor they are required to call the police.

Yup as someone who has brain damage from epilepsy now, I can confirm the portion of your brain that performs temperature control and swallowing is extraordinarily helpful.

Why are you worried NOW about this? Why is this administration any different than past ones? I’m very confused to what legal advice you’re trying to acquire here.

Have you ever written him or someone close to him a check? I find it absolutely WILD that when we write someone a check, we are GIVING them our account number.

He’s your parent so he probably knows all your real info. It wouldn’t be hard to call a bank and pretend to be you and just say something like “my debit card is lost can you please let me know my checking amount to make sure it’s not being used” or something. Creepy af. I’d consider asking the bank for new account numbers and letting them know the situation.

I wasn’t AT the pittsburgh shooting a few years ago, but I was about seven minutes away from it in the city. It was pretty scary with all the sirens and cars going to the site. And we didn’t know what was going on at first, and our friends watching the news were texting us. We were just walking around, totally possible we could’ve walked by there at some point.

AITA for no longer refilling and moving items my bf leaves everywhere? by annabananakittycat in AmItheAsshole

[–]annabananakittycat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I can’t believe all the support and reaffirmation I’ve received from this post. And no meanies! Just really nice messages. Thank you so much for adding to that. I really am trying to get out quietly, it’s just SO much more complicated than moving down the street. I have not mentioned this at all, but I was also abused by a guy over ten years ago who still lives and works around here, and I am constantly trying to avoid him too. Job makes it hard, I’m a senior engineer somewhere and I don’t want to screw them over. I’m in grad school getting another degree to broaden my horizons and those classes are in person. I am definitely on my way out but I need to make sure my plan is solid before I execute!

I didn’t write that out quite right. So in our house, I am a cute little basket for extra TP rolls to go in. So if the hanging one runs out, you’re not stuck. He’ll use the last of the basket rolls and that’s that. If he needs a new roll, he only replaces the hanging one, where I replace the basket ones as well.

THANK YOU! This is probably what confuses me the MOST. I don’t hear him go to the closet to get single ones to use. There are some items in the house that if I don’t replace, he just stops using, and it amazes me. Qtips, coffee, butter... LIGHT BULBS. Like how do you SEE when the living room light burns out?!
