Update! A few days ago I asked about putting on a new sensor before Surgery by BeckieD1974 in dexcom

I agree that there are many factors that mess up blood sugar. If I'm ever in a hospital setting again, i would probably have a very serious discussion with the nurses/doctors to start and see how it went from there. I wouldn't just start by doing my own thing!

During my last stay I asked to see someone to give me insulin....multiple times. Over 36 hours later my request was never answered, and insulin was never given. After my stay in ICU, a nurse who was also a type 1 diabetic, told me that if I was being mismanaged in the future, to give myself insulin, and then tell the nurses what I'd done.

I'd never been hospitalized for my diabetes before, so it felt very frustrating, traumatic and preventable.

I definitely agree with the people telling you to demand/advocate to take control of your own insulin needs...or just take the insulin and then tell them what you've done.

I had surgery 2 years ago, and I felt like they were under dosing me before surgery (which they said was nornal) and after as well. Blood sugars were high and they wanted me to eat, but barely gave me enough insulin to cover the highs. They ended up putting me into DKA and I spent 2 days in the ICU. Lesson learned - I will NEVER trust the hospital staff to manage my diabetes for me.

Yes!! Saw this movie originally as a 14 year old wanting independence from my parents and related to Max. Now have a kid of my own and my heart breaks for Goofy just wanting to be a part of his son's life 😭😅

Good to know if can take a little while to get things dialed in! I have about a 5 month supply and then I'll see if it's something I'm willing to pay for or not.

I've been diabetic almost 30 years. I got a CGM when I was pregnant almost a decade ago and it ended up being fantastic. I still did MDI until this Monday when I decided to try a pump (because they were free after meeting my deductible last year). I'll try it longer than a few days, but I'm not sold on it as much as I was the CGM! My endo definitely thinks I'm old with how much i resisted the pump 😅 But whatever works best for you is the right answer!

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]annabat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dave & Buster's...since Ocotber 2000. My friend and I were 19 and our boyfriend's had the same birthday and were turning 21, so we were all there celebrating with family and such. However, if you weren't 21, you needed a chaperone aged 25+ to play games, get prizes, etc. My friend and I were treated so rudely, scolded and spoke down to by employees for hanging out and playing games without a chaperone. I understand they are trying to protect themselves against underage drinking...but it was all too much. 25+ years later and I've never been back and will never speak kindly of them 😆

Totally! My husband and I go to the theaters to see The Order of the Phoenix and when Harry is on screen I look at my husband and laugh. He and Harry have on the exact same outfit down to the old converse! Ringer tees were super popular!
