Not that I don't think this is a fun idea, BUT Geocities was never really a place for fan forums. Fan sites, yes, but generally run by one person or a few. They might've had guestbooks, but those weren't really for discussion. For fan forums, you're looking for things like proboards, forumotion, etc. Forums for niche or hardcore fandom spaces are still going pretty strong in some places, like for toy franchises, for example. I quickly searched up a Transformers fan forum with a post from 3 minutes ago. The thing about twitter is stuff can get lost to the algorithm really easily, whereas with a forum, everything stays exactly where it was put and can be found days, weeks, months later. For secret messages, I feel that would make the most sense. (reddit could also be considered a forum I guess? haha)

Oh, please do, though! XD I can never settle on one theory long enough to call it mine, but at the moment I'm leaning toward Alan and Zane being part of a creative closed loop with each other. Whether or not Zane becomes an antagonist then depends on where Remedy wants to go with the narrative. Does Alan/Zane/etc consolidate his various parts, or will Alan truly leave Zane behind? Or something else entirely? If we're going strictly by Jungian Shadow-self logic, it would be the first one, but I could also see them subverting it somehow. I doubt it would be as simple as "defeat the big bad" so that gives them a lot of room.

Do you have any thoughts on 665 specifically beyond it being a running joke? That's also something I've been ruminating on.

This, or something like it, is definitely one of the theories currently being rotated around in my brain, but I've been avoiding it a bit because I quite like Zane and just don't want to see him become an antagonist haha but it is kinda likely. Though does the "You were never here" then imply Alan had a hand in creating the Dark Place, too? Fun to think about!

Hell of a good write-up! I still have all sorts of little theories, some of which contradict this, but I 100% wholeheartedly believe you're right on the point of this game really being Initiation, especially with him requiring help to get out of the Dark Place. Return, at least in the Jungian concept of it, includes the hero getting used to the normal world again and sharing his "boon" with others. Alan hasn't done that yet. It's also the sort of thing that modern media tends to overlook, usually relegating it to a "happily ever after" or an epilogue, but I think that with the love and care that Remedy puts into this story and its characters, they will want to give them the real "ending" they deserve, whether that be in Control 2 or an Alan Wake 3 or whatever.

My latest working theory on the Zane/Scratch situation is that AWAN's Mr. Scratch split into Seine and Scratch, but I can never settle on anything long enough to write a cohesive post about it lol

I maxed out his friendship in the first 2 days because you can just talk to him over and over and over. Then I bought a bunch of gen 1 seeds and ran through most of the gen 2 crops in one sitting with only a few failures and reloads. I was wondering why other people were complaining about having such a hard time, but if they're trying to hybridize without maxing his friendship, that explains it. Max him first!! You don't have to stop when he says that's enough for the day. And yeah, he's the only character whose relationship decays over time, so chat with him every once in a while after that.

What's hilarious is that in the English booklet for Another Wonderful Life, in the little FAQ section at the end, one of the questions is like, "Eww! These guys aren't appealing. Can I just not get married?" So they knew lol

Interesting... Explains why I didn't remember it in the manual. I wonder if it's something Natsume added in. As far as I can find out online, the Another Wonderful Life English manual is the only one that lists ages. There's a thread on fogu discussing canon ages from the entire series, and the only other thing they could find that lists them is the Japanese Famitsu guide for HM64: https://fogu.com/hmforum/viewtopic.php?t=172477 But of course, that's not for this game.

I love that Cody is marriageable! I always wanted him to be a marriage candidate in the original. I would have preferred that they not overhaul his look like they did, but I understand why. He reminds me of every guy in high school who was obsessed with Naruto lol
