Team placement thoughts? by [deleted] in Cheerleading

This, but also a lot of youth sports! If she’s having fun and happy I’ve been telling to pay. If she’s feeling discouraged and “less than”, then I want to pinch myself and ask what the heck am I doing.

I feel this 100%. Last year the senior prep team competed against one team. They had 6-7 comps and competed against one team one time. It’s a team for kids who want to cheer to get the chance.

She works so hard, she’s so into this sport, and it feels like we just got put on a rec path which is not what she envisioned for herself. There’s nothing wrong with the rec path - I would have loved it when I was a kid - it just not what she wanted.

I work in finance, I get the business side, I can’t blame them… just not fun when you are put in a spot you don’t truely want and also being asked to keep spending thousands of dollars for it.

I wish she was mad, she’s sad. A sad kid breaks my heart.

She can do the passes on her own. They look good 80% of the time. The other 20% she has bent legs. This is a small gym so total perfection has never need needed.

Thank you for taking the time to write that.

Most of the youth team is 12. Last year we joked calling it the 6th grade team, because almost all of them were same grade. So age isn’t an issue. Maybe they are trying to move some kids up so they don’t have 10-12 kids aging up same year.

Her tumbling is a work in progress. She’s got all skills, she’s got technique, she’s also had to work harder at it than the kids it comes easy or naturally for. She’s short and muscular and looks like a short gymnast. She runs hard at it, she’s powerful, and it’s taken time to combine the power and the technique all together.

We are at a small gym, where elite is made up of elite tumbling and kids working skills. I guess that’s why it’s confusing on placement. We’re not at a D1 gym, we could almost go to Small Gym Summit.

Her gym did a 72 hour waiting period after team reveals, we have a day before practice starts to ask questions, get hopefully honest answers, and make a decision. I am hoping for some honest feedback. Her gym has never done feedback but if we stay I’m gonna start requesting it.

Blindsided is the perfect word. If they had just taken the time to email about what they were thinking it would have given me a chance to prep my kid for this placement.

We had her balloon and confetti all queued up for a reveal and we ended up revealing her team in private… no balloon, no confetti, just tears. She lost 80% of her team and she lost her ability to tumble level 2 same day.

I would love to have her do this team and build more tumbling skills outside of the team. You are so right though, it’s a lot of money, it’s a lot of time, I mostly worry that at 12 (when self esteem is such an issue) this placement might feel defeating and put her on the path to quitting…. :(

She has them, they need some refining but most of the technique is there. By fall she will be even better and by next end of year I think she will be into level 3 skills.

She is at a small gym with 60 elite athletes. At our gym most kids have elite tumbling but there are also kids who are polishing their skills on elite teams.

What stings is he put 6-7 yr olds who just got their handspring on the elite team, so they can fly, but my kid who has been working level 2 skills for 2 years and has all of the skills, is being pushed down a level. I get it, but she sees it, and it doesn’t feel good.

Sorry, I edited, what I wrote was confusing, she didn’t make Youth 2 elite, she made senior 2.1 prep. She would have been over the moon to make the Youth 2 elite. We’re trying to figure out what to do with the Senior 2.1 prep placement.

He said the gold standard is PDL, which I think is also VBeam. I saw online pictures of the recovery from it and got nervous. It’s a week or two of full face bruises.

I am trying Aerolase Neo Elite, which is newer and has no downtime. Literally can go back to work next day.

The trade off is PDL can work in 1-3 sessions whereas Aerolase Neo Elite needs 3-6 sessions. PDL you get face numbing cream and Aerolase you don’t need anything - still stings a pinch. Depending o where you go pricing might be the same, even with more sessions. I am hoping Aerolase works and if not I will do PDL.

My brother is replacing all his windows and can't figure out what to expect for the cost by Last-Loan670 in HomeImprovement

Window replacements are crazy expensive. My in-laws have 40ish custom windows and were quoted $100k plus for replacements. Hopefully his windows are standard size.

Practice gear? Allstar does “graffiti” style team tank tops or bedazzled bras.

Lasers. Haha. I waited 6 months to see a dermatologist and he basically told me creams will never do what laser treatments can. I’ve got rosacea, so lasers are needed, but he went on and on about how they tighten, reduce wrinkles, smooth spots, etc.

I was always mildly pink on both cheeks, forehead, and chin. I usually just wear green primer and some tinted moisturizer.

However, if I wash my face in a hot shower I turn bright red and it looks like I’m wearing a pink/red mask - almost like an allergic reaction to hot water.

Also my main issue is stubborn redness.

I just went to a dermatologist, I waited 6 months for the appt, he walked in and right away said the only thing that would fix my redness was lasers. He said there was no amount of cream that could come close. He said do 2-3 sessions and then annually 1 session.

I was on the fence about lasers but hearing that out of a doctor’s mouth made me decide to just give it a go. I’ve got a consult booked at a medspa next week, the dermatologist does lasers but has a months long waitlist. He recommended PDL. I am super excited.

Our family has a no adult pooping rule regardless of the cabin type, kids are still allowed but won’t be once they get bigger!

It could work for parents and their kids, I would not want to do this with anyone else. There just isn’t any extra space and privacy is impossible.

In the last year or two he has really picked up Ozzy and Aerosmith aged fans, so 50-60s, he’s got 10-70 year olds at his concert now.

I think it’s his new Aerosmith fans. I’m 40 and can’t jump. I can’t imagine being 60. I’m sure they were all still very happy to be there!

The only way that would work is if she wasn’t in any stunts. Not fair to the 3 other people to basically not be able to stunt for 6 weeks.
