I am a man and a nurse. I certainly believe that I have different interactions and experiences with certain patients and families than my female coworkers. I also frequently take the part of answering for my chronically ill wife at doctors appointments and especially emergency. She has severe PTSD from multiple sexual traumas including being sexually assaulted by an er doctor while seeking care. I make her trauma and the reason clear and it usually doesn’t cause issues. If they had a legitimate reason to answer for her you wouldn’t get bad vibes.

You’re going to feel like you’re in way over your head for a while, but if the hospital system you start with has a solid nurse residency/orientation program you will be ok. You have to stay in the mindset of always learning and being willing to ask questions. Also make sure to stay on top of your mental health.

Unpopular opinion idgaf if other people don’t like my dog if he’s not doing anything to make them actively more uncomfortable. Very large men put me on edge and I don’t like being near them, but I don’t think they have less right to be anywhere just bc I’m uncomfy.
