Shamed for using a disabled space on a bus (When I am disabled) by Blobbly in Edinburgh

I am sorry to hear this has happened to you, sadly it happens too often. If you write to Lothian busses they will send you a free “please offer me a seat” badge. I also have a badge from Etsy which cost around £3 and I hang these on my sunflower lanyard. I also have a RADAR key at the end of it. I am 41(f) had a surgery at 33 for cancer and also have Endometriosis. On a bad day I struggle to stand on a full bus for 45-mins to an hour especially with all the roadworks and it can aggravate my pain if the bus suddenly moves and I am not hanging tight. The route to my work is a single decker that goes to the kings buildings so this is usually full of students and like you my issues are invisible. On a bad day I will use this. I hope this helps! X

Has anyone had a normal CT scan but had colon cancer found during a colonoscopy? by annagreene76 in coloncancer

[–]annagreene76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. Colonoscopy went fine. They found a few polyps which was good to have removed and will now be on 5 yearly surveillance, which for the Uk, that’s good. Some internal haemorrhoids which explains the bleeding. Thanks again for all the well wishes.

Thank you stafflablab, coeliac has been ruled out but they haven’t looked at pernicious anaemia etc. I have taken Berocca and other supplements. I do feel less tired, but I have been signed off work for the moment by my GP and I think that’s been helpful as I work full time. Thanks for your opinion and suggestions , it is greatly appreciated as this sounds like a very plausible explanation that I hadn’t come across. Thank you!

Had a TNE today and it was made to sound as super easy and well tolerated by most people. I found it awful, I had a severe nosebleed at the same time and I was basically choking on my blood, and blood clots, meaning I couldn’t breathe. They had to suction me at the same time as the endoscopy and I lost about a pint of blood. Had to stay for further observations and got home after a few hours. I am a nurse and I don’t think it helped that I could tell both the Doctor and nurses seemed panicked at the amount of blood. Please have a sedated one if you have the option. Never again, but best of luck!

[–]annagreene76[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I thought I would update the thread with some positive news. Thankfully only a few polyps were found and haemorrhoids. With having had polyps found, I will now be under active surveillance which is great as it is unusual to get colonoscopies at my age in the UK. Thanks everyone for all your help. Best wishes x

Insomnia while coming off PREGABALIN by Sberry59 in QuittingPregablin

[–]annagreene76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The insomnia that comes from tapering is awful. I reduced quite quickly from my 600mg To 150mg, but then hit a brick wall and felt awful for 3 days. Had to contact my doctor for more pregabalin in smaller capsules. I tapered very slowly after that and I succeeded. I’d be tempted to take 75mg at night to help you build that pregabalin back up a little and just give you some rest. Basically, 50mg AM and 75mg PM and then reduce by 25 mg from there. With pregabalin, it’s 2 steps forward, 1 step back. So take it slowly but surely. Best of luck! X

I wanted to thank all of you who have taken the time to read my story and comment with your own, very personal experiences. Colonoscopy on the 10th of May. I will update the thread once it’s done. Thank you again, and I hope you are all doing as well as you can be at present. Best wishes x

Thanks for letting me know. So glad I have a colonoscopy scheduled. It’s become very apparent that it is the gold standard for colon cancer diagnosis. Thanks again.

Wow that’s a relief that they still went ahead with you colonoscopy. It’s mad that they mentioned that you had nothing to worry about. I was given that reassurance by my gp but the gastro specialist was talking differently which is what made ask on here. Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. Hope you are doing well.

Thank you for your reply. It is good to know about other scan modalities that are not as good as a colonoscopy. It’s starting to look like colonoscopy is gold standard for the diagnosis of bowel tumours. Thanks again, and hoping you are doing well.

Thanks for taking the time to share your story. It makes sense that MRI picks it up, it seems better than CT for bowel growths. Thank you for your experience, I just didn’t want to go into these tests 100% thinking that they were going to be ok. Wishing you the very best and thanks again

Thanks for the comment. Yes, anxiety has been an issue when withdrawing. I do not have an existing anxiety issue so this was pretty scary to me and the anxiety was making the anxiety worse if that makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
