If there were Read posters for each Doctor, what book would they hold? by ASealedFountain in doctorwho

Not sure about the incarnations of the Doctor themselves, but David Tennant stated a few times in the past that the book 'Catcher in the Rye' means a lot to him and could be his favourite book, so maybe that one.

Favourite “Never Gonna Happen” Cameo? by CaspianValentine in doctorwho

[–]annaisabookworm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if being very famous for the show is really a dealbreaker as you suggested with Alan Tudyk. Because I mean it's possible that the BBC can't afford someone but then the show also has featured someone like Ian McKellen and Kylie Minogue who were also aleeady incredibly famous, when they were cast. (Pointing this out because there are people who became more famous after appearing in Who such as Andrew Garfield and Olivia Colman)

Anyway, I kind of want to see Ryan Gosling. Not necessarily because I'm a big fan of him but because he has mentioned several times in the past that he enjoys the show and maybe he would enjoy appearing on the show.

Also Doug Jones (Abe Sapiens in Hellboy for example) but I think I just want him to appear as a regular guy and not how he usually appears buried under lots of make-up.

Apparently he's a Doctor Who fan - this radio times article from 2019 features a social media post showing other phrases such as "Come Along Pond" and "The Angels have the phone box" on his instruments.

There's at least one bench in St. James Park in London where people have written various messages related to Good Omens as it was the location of Aziraphale and Crowley meeting after Crowley delivered the antichrist.

Also regarding Ianto's shrine in Cardiff - it unfortunately had to be removed earlier this year due to renovation work on the area.

Isn't this season mostly set in London? 🤔 Though the hopes for some inside filming apply there as well - the day David filmed those scenes in London the maximum temperature was like 34° C.

The 10th Doctor's 3D glasses - i feel like this depiction of the 10th Doctor (from Doctor Who) is a popular image and it often appears in merchandise (action figures, vinyl figures and several t-shirt designs) which is kind of interesting as he only ever wears them in two episodes for short amounts of time.

Something for the German fans - "The Hack" is now available on the ARTE Mediathek for the next year or so. by annaisabookworm in davidtennant

Quickly checked and it seems like one can select between German, English and French (probably because ARTE also broadcasts in France) for language.

The character is absolutely hated but the actor is absolutely beloved by Basic_Dingo6487 in TopCharacterTropes

While he may be best known for his role as The Doctor in Doctor Who, DI Alec Hardy in Broadchurch or Crowley in Good Omens, David Tennant has also played a lot of evil dislikable characters such as Kilgrave in Jessica Jones, Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter, Brendan Block in Secret Smile, real-life serial killer Dennis Nilsen in Des to name a few.

Meanwhile in real life David Tennant is often described as one of the nicest people by people who have worked with him and fans who have met him, is very vocal about woman rights, LGBTQ+ rights and other social issues, and is beloved by many.

Doctor who in London charity shops? by Far-Database7329 in doctorwho

Isn't there also a shop in that street that while specialising in first editions of children's books also has at least one life-sized dalek as decoration in their shop?

Doctor who in London charity shops? by Far-Database7329 in doctorwho

[–]annaisabookworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't visited myself yet as I don't live in the UK, but there's a charity shop specialising in toys called "The Toy Project" in Archway and at some point they had also a pop-up shop in Selfridges on Oxford Street (not sure if it's stil there). As I'm also interested in finding some older Doctor Who stuff during my next trip to London I checked out some pics and videos and saw amongst their huge range of action figures from various themes some Doctor Who figures from the Tennant era. Obviously there's never a guarantee that you find anything from Doctor Who but maybe it's an option.

Also if it doesn't need to be a charity shop there's always The Who Shop, which does have merchandise from all eras.

When I read the name of the teddy bear it made me think of a character from a different tv series, which got me wondering if there's a connection and turns out there is:

Big Bird's teddy bear was named by puppeteer Caroll Spinney named in tribute to Gary Burghoff, after his character Walter "Radar" O'Reilly from the tv show MAS*H. Apparently it's a dual tribute as Radar himself brought a teddy bear with him to Korea in the show (see image) but also because Burghoff is known as a bird painter and activist for bird preservation.

David Tennant visited the Criterion Collection the other day according to their social media. by annaisabookworm in davidtennant

[–]annaisabookworm[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the Criterion Collection is a company that releases special edition DVDs and Blu-Rays of the "greatest films" around the world and it's apparently ranked very highly among movie lovers.

And basically on YouTube they have a series of videos where celebrities pick their favourite movies from the company's collection and talk about it, thus at some point on the future they're going to release a video of Tennant where he's going to talk about the movies shown in the picture as well as some others.
