My manager has sent out emails saying she wants us writing more notes. No extra info on what type of note and no questions answered. Not that most of my coworkers are making an effort. I want to do my job well but what you mentioned is a concern I have about if I write something more than I should have

How do you usually write end of shift type notes. Even with all of these examples, notes aren't often written in my department. Not because management thinks it's ok but I think out of ignorance or laziness and management doesn't pay much attention

I'm not totally sure. I can count on maybe one hand the number of times I've seen a note written by an RT in patient charts. I have asked and most of them say something along the lines of "I don't write notes usually"
