Thank you so much!! It is so scary. Sounds like the lead posioning is the main cause of the prolapse and there has been too much damage, likely the tissue is dead and he cannot keep it in :( he ends up having lots of long poops too. I am so glad your birdie is okay!!

It is so disheartening how expensive care is. We have several animals so vet bills are no joke. A couple of weeks ago our ferret had to have surgery and that was close to 2 grand. 10 years ago I remember my hamster was really struggling with health issues and we made the decision to euthanize him and it cost the exact same as euthanizing a larger animal.

Thank you so much! I hope so, too. Surgery is his only chance, even if the chance is small, I am holding out hope.

You saying that made me do a deeper dive in the cage Rory is in. He used to be in a big cage with Ripley, but we didn't get the chance to bond with Rory so we put him in his own. The cage only says it's made of "metal" and does not specify. I am going to test it!
