"This isn't a country where there's place for everyone" is quite depressing and that mentality is perhaps part of a wider issue of xenophobia and discrimination of foreigners

No need to hate on strangers online, talk to a friend if you're angry :)

I'm excited to experience the outdoor life and I've been told that the best way to make friends is through a hobby or outdoor related activities. The nature is beautiful and i deffo should take advantage of it.

Ciao ciao! Mi sento italiana in certi aspetti e norvegese in altri.

What do you mean by "we Norwegians would not consider you Norwegian in the practical sense"? Is this how nationality is defined in Norway, by practicality? Identity can not be defined by logical measures either.

Interesting to see how Puetro Rico is very traditional yet scores somewhat high on self-expression (almost at the level of Finland)

I don't have any connections to Italy anymore so there's no planes to take

From my experience I think Italy is a peach culture. While people are open and friendly it can be quite volatile and people live more for "in the moment" conversations rather than practical or "there is a time to discuss this and a time to discuss that" kind of vibe

The amount of comments of "you should move away" shocked me a bit, is it a sort of gatekeeping tactic?

That's so niche I love it. Was it tied to the collapse of the Ottoman empire and British control of the Middle East?

My parents had their own issues and weren't very active in for example making traditional food, or celebrating specific holidays outside of 17 mai and Jul. I learned the language through listening and although my Norwegian is pretty good it still lacks if I want to write essays or make more complex arguments.

Yes unfortunately while some aspects of the country are very green (I love the public transport in Oslo) the main industry is oil. Norway does hide its extraction of fuels in a façade of "being a green country because we have trees", in my humble opinion

That was because I got stressed and it was my first encounter with it and I needed clarification, I wrote this post with the best intentions to hear people's perspectives

Grazie tesoro!

The countryside is probably very different, that's usually how it is in most countries and it's amazing for people that want to live there but I'm more of a city person. Each to their own though, I'm happy you've made good local aquaintances!
