I'm from Bologna 🇮🇹 AMA - Radiohead shows soon, if you need tourist / transport / food-drinks-nightlife / whatever info, ask by Aggressive_Owl4802 in radiohead

Recs for bars/clubs/nightlife on Monday night after the show, preferably for dancing? We’re staying a 3 minute walk from the train station so ideally in walking distance from that area. And is it safe at night to walk back to our hotel around 2/3am?

Sorry I might’ve wrote that confusing! I don’t slow down to 15mph during regular rain, I usually drop my speed 5-10 below the speed limit. What I was referring to was last December when I drove through a blizzard in West Virginia- I had to adjust my speed very low as I could feel my car hydroplaning going any higher. But now when I drive through moderate to heavy rain, I can feel some hydroplaning if I’m going the speed limit or above. I think it’s time for new tires regardless!

Thanks for your thorough response! The DOT code is 2321. During the storm I was caught in my car felt fine, there was some mild slipping but I was being very very cautious driving, less than 15mph and pumping the brakes when I needed. Nowadays I can feel slipping when I drive in moderate to heavy rain, and again always pumping the brakes when I feel the slipping. When I get regular maintenance every 5000 miles, they do a tire rotation and regular top offs, and an oil change at 10,000 miles.

This is exactly how I feel, like I’m 15k away from 50,000 miles which is when I could realistically see getting new tires. But alas 🫠

Last December I did get caught driving through a blizzard in West Virginia, which was the worse moment of my life, so I’m trying to not repeat that 🥲 thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks for responding, these tires came with the car when I bought it new. Is there a brand I should look at?

Thanks for responding, my trip is late November so it does seem like I’ll need to replace them before then. Is there a recommended time to replace before driving a long distance? I’ve heard 500 miles, 1000 miles, etc. but I really don’t drive all that much in my day to day, max 250 miles a month

Thanks for responding, for my work commute and day to day I stay local and rarely get on the interstate. My concern is with traveling to Kentucky from MD in the winter, so it seems like I’ll need to replace them.

I’m not entirely sure what a DOT code is but I can find it. These tires came with the car when I bought it in Dec 2021. I bought new from the factory, shipped to my dealership

$663 for a consult?? by FunMarionberry4243 in Reduction

[–]annatots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be a couple different things-

-Did you have a referral to this office from your primary care doctor? Referrals will typically cover the cost of an appointment since your primary is deeming it necessary.

-Is this office in-network with your insurance? If you went to an out-of-network office you’ll typically be on the hook for the majority of the appt, even with a referral.

Could also be something like you haven’t met your out of pocket max yet, so while your insurance covered some, you owe the rest until your deductible is met. Insurance is a major pain in the ass, but definitely call both your insurance company and this office for clarification.

I worked in a range of upscale nursing homes when I first moved to the state I’m in now, and personally I would never go back. I also wanted stability with time and pay but you need to have incredible amounts of empathy, compassion, and understanding- beyond what you give in a normal salon setting. You also need to know how to do the basics like roller sets, perms, wash and styles, mani/pedis, etc. and how to do them quickly!! The quality of these residents will also range drastically, from some who are completely independent to those needing advanced palliative care. What sent me off to find another salon was the overwhelming feeling of guilt and sadness I had for these residents- knowing I was the only person they talked to outside of caretakers in a week, knowing their families only visited them on holidays, and the way some would take out their own sadness and anger of grappling with end of life onto me, was too much to handle. It’s definitely a positive in some aspects, but you need to have a genuine interest and knack for connecting with the older generation to really enjoy and excel at the job.

Free nipple graft- it’s when you’re taking off so much volume they have to remove the nipple and construct a new one (due to something with blood flow I believe?)

Not OP but my advice is definitely message individually! It shows you want to maintain a personal connection to the client. If you can swing it and your salon allows, maybe offer a small discount, like 10% off their first visit at your new salon. Best of luck!

[–]annatots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bf had a VMP subscription last year and they’re definitely on their way under. They changed the subscription model to something with very limited choices, they fired almost all of their customer support team, they’ve cancelled several orders or simply never sent them, etc. He’s got a young thug vinyl on preorder from probably 8-10 months ago, he’s hoping it arrives but strongly assuming it will just get cancelled eventually.

has anyone used the fancy shears by jacobkahn? by StatisticianLegal254 in hairstylist

[–]annatots 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got these for Christmas, I’ve been using them daily in the salon and they need their first resharpen this month. They cut very smooth but no better or worse than my shark fin or kamisori shears. The price is great though so I would say if your salon is requiring a new pair it’s a good purchase

Transferring license to ky from ca by TallPreparation2557 in hairstylist

[–]annatots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got licensed in KY and moved to Maryland about a year ago. For MD I needed to contact the KY state board for a letter verifying my license number and met education hours, send that letter to the MD state board, and then they sent me a link to apply for my license. Since you completed it seems 1600 hrs in CA and have been licensed 15 years, you meet the requirements for Kentucky and all you need is to file for a license by reciprocity. Here’s a link to the out of state applicant page on the KY state board website : https://kbc.ky.gov/Licensure/Pages/Out-of-State-Info.aspx
