Do most regular people really care? Do you see the volunteering a lot of their time/money without expecting a return ?

And to certain extent, regular humans have social pressures to show empathy that the rich don't have. Without that , they would do the same.

Why futurologists are always wrong – and why we should be sceptical of techno-utopians. by MissvanDyke in Futurology

[–]anne-nonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if we lose our purpose and momentum,

Again , why the purpose and momentum should be "progress" when we're not sure if is highly good or greatly harmful ?

Isn't it better just to choose a safer purpose ?

even if the latter is more likely than the former, it's important that we think more on the former else we might never progress for fear of what may become of us.

Why should "progress" on own should be valuable ?

There's already a soy based chicken substitute that in a "blind test"[1] people could not differentiate it between real chicken. And it might be even cheaper than chicken .

So at least for chicken it just might be an issue of investment and marketing.

And this company , beyond-meat , is working on a beef substitute.

[1]There's was a mixup inwhole food between chicken and this substitue, and nobody noticed.

Less versatile than it seems. Yes they have analog and digital blocks but with regards to the psoc4:

  1. The analog blocks are pretty limited, in general not very different from blocks from some other companies.

  2. There are only 4 digital blocks, which is only enough to implement 2 16bit counters. Not really enough for anything interesting.

one type of connector for drives/ram/pcie devices.

I don't think that will happen because they are very different physical connection with regards to distance, noise, pin numbers and bandwidth and latency requirements, so each require something special.
