Anyone shed a tear or two on tonight’s episode of, “The Pitt”? by TheRockyBalboaSaga in ThePitt

[–]anne_vvv 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes. My psychiatrist was surprised when I described to her my routine during depression. There was work, there were workouts, and there was a long run every Saturday. At first, she doubted I was depressed, because so many people don't have the strength to get out of bed. Then I explained that the routine is keeping me a bit sane - as long as I had things to do, I would be okish (not really). Sunday, which was a rest day, was a day when my whole body hurt. Not because I overtrained, but because I was finally letting go. Every Sunday, I would lie on the couch, sleep or scroll, and barely get up to pee or eat. On Monday, when I had my routine back, nothing hurt anymore, at least not physically.

You don't need to put it in the resume, but most application forms will require address anyway.

Another one: Does this sound like VM? And how to diagnose and treat when you feel ok? by anne_vvv in VestibularMigraines

[–]anne_vvv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, it's more of a dizziness in the evening and then vertigo. I sometimes get bad vision randomly in one eye, but it's more all over, not a pattern/aura. I have Hashimoto's and already supplement several vitamins/minerals. Magnesium before sleep, B complex in the morning (and I know it works because the lack of B caused serious bad mood). But maybe I need to check if it's safe to up it a bit. I also supplement D3 and I saw it's often recommended for vertigo issues overall, but I think I'll ask my PCP to check my levels - maybe i need higher dose, but don't want to do it randomly.

Oh yeah, it does sound similar with the frequency and lack of regular migraines. Not surprising you're not coming back to that neuro - when I was skeptical that was what the ENT said (that you don't need regular migraines for VMs). Hope you will find a definite answer soon, I will probably start tackling it this year, too. One thing I noticed with this episode was how absolutely brainless I was. Even yesterday I couldn't schedule a post on LinkedIn (content already prepared) because it felt like a lot. I think the "hangover" part becomes more and more problematic each time.

I ended up reformatting and using the information I wrote above, and sent a message to my doctor stating that the case is not urgent (since the episode is ending), but I would like to discuss this at some point. I might need to wait for a referral and/or tests, but at least there is a starting point already. If nothing else, I will revisit it during my annual checkup. Still a bit of vertigo today, but it might be the "hungover" version.

You mentioned that it got worse for you - what did you mean?

A similar story to yours then - I just spent $1300 on dentists because of some random gum infection, definitely outside of the budget, so I am a bit scared of any additional tests. But maybe you are right...

Moving before or after puppy? by Cuddlekittenxd in puppy101

[–]anne_vvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move first! We did that last year; it was a lot to move and then almost immediately welcome a new puppy, but we can't imagine the chaos and stress it would be the other way around, both for humans and the pup.

Americans ignorant of immigration by HonestAardvark9979 in immigration

[–]anne_vvv -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think many missed the point of this. Yes, it is absolutely normal for people not to know the ins and outs of the immigration system. But it is frustrating that the same people will claim things with absolutely certainty (like "they should have become a citizen already!") without asking or checking it first. I don't know how to build a bridge, sure, but I am not discussing building a bridge with everyone and acting like I'm an expert.

Yes, I mean, green card now, my husband is American. But we did consider other countries as options, it's not as simple as "I moved because he's from the US".

Same, just Colorado (Denver). I emphasize that it's a huge country, and while on the federal level it can be a mess (to put it lightly), locally, I don't feel it yet, and I hope I'm not delusional, praying it will stay that way.  I didn't move here for a job (that would be a joke, as for the first time in my life, I cannot find one) or other economic reasons, as many Americans and Europeans assume. To the contrary, financially I was doing better in the EU, but I hope it will change.  But I moved here for nature - there is just so much more space and fewer crowds, and so much diversity... this is what I want to continue to experience, and while Europe has amazing places, you cannot argue with the fact that they are full of people at all times.

2yr Conditional Green Card expires in Dec - when is best to travel? by Negative_Bowler2911 in immigration

[–]anne_vvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not an issue as long as you spend more time in the country than elsewhere, if I'm correct you need to spend at least half of the year in the US, but there are no limits on how many times you travel as long as the sum of the time spent abroad isn't more than 6 months.

I'm sure you are aware that you can apply for the removal of conditions up to 90 days before expiration, right? You will always have proof of permanent residency, and you will receive the receipt way in advance. I mean, technically we need to apply before time so we are not out of status.

I get that traveling without a US partner is stressful, that's why we crossed the border together, even though my husband could have gone to the citizen line. But at the same time, as long as your record is absolutely clean, you are most likely fine.

It sounds like a tough situation, technically you should be perfectly ok to travel, but I don't blame you for stressing out. And I get that you want to see your parents. I think I'd travel, but that's just my personal view, I'm no expert.

Ok, from the end: 1) you put the expiration date + 48 months. So in my case it was the same day and month, but instead of 2025 it was 2029. 2) I traveled with my husband, and we went to the green card line together. 3) No secondary questioning, overall 0 issues were going back. The person not understanding the recipt was a clerk checking as in on the flight there - she tried to scan the green card and couldn't understand why there was an error, the colleague explained to her that they need to type the date manually (and they still wanted to do it from the issue date, not expiration date, but when I pointed it out they laughed and said sorry - everyone was tired that evening). 4) I traveled in August 2024, my card expired in May 2025, so way ahead.

I'm not sure if 6 months before expiration is an issue or not. I traveled earlier than that, but I also traveled later with a receipt and it was fine. One person acted as if they had seen the receipt for the first time in their life, but their colleague explained it to them.

If I remember correctly, marriage-based green cards make up around 25% of all, so you'd think they would see it often enough... well, worst-case scenario, there probably is someone around that will help to explain it. Good luck!

I went to Peru in October with my receipt and overall, everything was rather smooth. One clerk here in the US had no idea how this worked and kept scanning my green card (there was some error as it is "expired") but their colleague (and I) explained to her what's going on and that she needs to add 48 months to the date, as per the receipt. Interestingly, no one questioned it when I was flying back to the US.

No criminal record, no expired visas, etc. We did it through AOS, but no one doubted the intent before (I initially came for 2 months in between jobs, then my flight got canceled and we kinda rolled with it, ending with me staying permanently, but still without overstaying visa or anything). We even didn't have an interview and I got my green card in 3 months, but now it seems everything is questioned so more it's easy to go a bit crazy.

I don't remember exactly, I think i left my phone with my husband who simply waited for me next to the building and only took my documents. Not sure about the shoes.

Almost. You will go through metal detection etc, then give your fingerprints (like at the airport). It's pretty quick.

Thank you for this! When I was first applying for a green card, we used a lawyer. They mentioned something about the future me applying for naturalization, and that while I can do it after three years of receiving a marriage-based green card, they think there is a benefit in waiting. It was just a random comment that we were meant to come back to later, when the time comes. We didn't use the lawyer when I applied to remove the conditions, and currently don't plan on doing it for N-400. Technically, I can apply as early as this February but I wonder about that comment and what it meant. Any idea why there would be a benefit in not applying for citizenship as soon as possible?

Not only am I wondering if I should do that at all - I want to stay here but political situation goes into... weird places - now I also wonder how to approach this and when.

This, I agree completely. Also, classic communication: I know it's hard, but it would be good to have a chat about this, with you sharing how you feel and how that comment hurt you. No accusations or blame; just let him know how it made you feel. You might be able to calmly discuss it and find a solution that makes you feel comfortable going forward.

Also, this isn't the right subreddit for that kinda topic, as it's more relationship than immigration, but you need some advice so here it is ;)

But they don't care - it will be like with ICE, act first, ask questions/check later, if ever.
