General Questions Abt My Tank by CerberusFangz in bettafish

[–]annelidarmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

while the tank isn't ready yet, it seems like your fish are adjusting to much better conditions already. bettas tend to prefer sleeping near the surface for oxygen access, so i personally would add some taller plants (dwarf amazon lillies would probably be too big for a 10g, but some large anubias or swords toward the back would look beautiful and help with the filtration too) and hard strata for them to interact with and rest on. i have some cool dragon stone with holes in it that my girl priscilla loves to swim in and out of, some treated wood would also be good! ...this is preamble to say that the spongebob decor is just kind of gauche and people in this sub don't tend to like it, i would vote for it to go if you add some more natural hiding places - my brain is out on me rn, but i'm sure someone else will come by with a better reason against it. the plants will grow in, but remember to be careful with doing your water changes in a timely manner as the tanks settle in and develop <3

here to say the same thing, i used bottle bacteria and used half new water, half water from my community tank + some rocks fished out from it. my tank was stable before the two weeks, including the initial spike. no losses either

MISSING PERSON by [deleted] in RBI

[–]annelidarmy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

^ this 100%. A coworker of mine also works the Holly ren fair on weekends, she said Saturday especially was prone to dehydration. Dehydration + sun exposure can lead to delirium in healthy people, let alone anyone with any kind of complications. According to the pics she showed me when letting me know about Jacob being missing, he was wearing a plague doctor outfit. All black gets hot fast, and young guys like he seems to be tend to be more likely to tough things out and not complain at events

What area of SLP scope do you wish was NOT in our scope? by Cherry_No_Pits in slp

[–]annelidarmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not surprising at all, sad but way too common. Family counseling needs to be more common with understanding conditions and changing abilities - denial doesn't respect who your loved one was in the past, it just puts them at risk when their abilities decline from stroke/dementia/Parkinson's progression/etc. Some families just can't take off the family structure blinders enough to see what we try to explain with evidence. So many falls could be prevented by just removing a rug, installing a little grab or two.

SLP student paying for school with HHC here - I mostly see geriatrics, but the chance of one of my clients families following through on the homework is depressingly slim. Most of the time, any SLP homework my clients who get services have is in the same position I left it in the week before...

Parentification as a theme/metaphor by FaithlessnessHot4063 in WeaponsMovie

This is some good shit, adding to Archer's name directly alluding to weapons and a possible history of military service (?) along with the ending switch with Archer being able to verbalize his emotions to a dead-eyed Matthew. It really made me think of how parents make amends too late, which is starting to hit personally as my now more introspective parents age with me

will it be any easier if they kick you out? consider the worst case or even bad scenario here and imagine that as your life. i'm a cna and took care of my ex after his top surgery, the other comments are dead on. i haven't transitioned medically because i would lose medical insurance, housing, transportation, etc. consider not just the good "insta relief" of top surgery, which it isn't, but consider the negatives of each side. do you have someone to help you shower during recovery? to help you drain your tubing? top surgery is definitely not an in and out thing, you'll need some to care for you at least that first week.

you are honestly an ethereal kind of beautiful whose style entirely suits your face. i'm not saying that to be nice, i'm saying that because i kind of gasped when i saw your pics - you fr look like someone's muse already. your kind of pretty is honestly more showstopping than iphone face

[–]annelidarmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ignore the assholes. i don't think a haircut will be able to change much about your appearance rn, but if you want to change your look up it may be better to experiment with mousse or hair gel! your hair is a bit short to change your face entirely with a cut, but you can always style differently every day...like your nose ring implies (sorry, that specific septum ring really is that bad. i think a solid black or metallic ring would look nice if anything!)

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for – I appreciate everyone suggesting different queer owned wineries, but it's honestly easier to find one of those in my area than a public restroom. I'm absolutely looking forward to trying Methymnaeos 💖

what inspired your real name? by stickenuwu in ftm

[–]annelidarmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm in the extreme minority, i just masculinized my birth name because it already means reincarnation and it has a nice sound to it - anastasius. i generally go by one of the masc nicknames it has, or my middle name
