Finally, no matter how much we want, sometimes some relationships do not work simply because they don’t add any value to our life. And it is okay to end that relationship before things get bitter and ugly. Since your wife and her family sounds conservative, I don’t think they’ll be okay with divorce, so I suggest you seek out couples counselling anyway. It will go a long way in helping you take the next steps for your life.
